Vernon Adams will become the fourth quarterback to start a game for B.C. this year when he leads the Lions into Calgary on Saturday afternoon (4 p.m. start). Adams has a record of 17-12 as a starter and is 3-2 against Calgary but he threw two interceptions as Montreal starter in a 30-27 Week 1 loss to the Stamps this year in Calgary.

The Lions have one other change on offence, with perennial backup Andrew Peirson getting his first start at guard for the injured Sukh Chungh (knee). Tyler Packer has been activated as the only backup lineman.

On defence, the Lions will shuffle three positions in the secondary to fill in for two injured starters. Quincy Mauger steps back onto the active roster at safety, where he started the year, while Loucheiz Purifoy slides over to halfback for the injured T.J. Lee (hamstring) and Jalon Edwards-Cooper starts on the right corner for Delvin Breaux (ribs). Bo Lokombo is again listed as starting weakside linebacker ahead of Jordan Williams although Williams played most of the game last week in Montreal and had a career-best 11 tackles.

B.C. still leads the CFL in many offensive categories, including scoring and net offence, with Calgary second in both categories, but Calgary leads the league in rushing, while B.C. ranks sixth in rushing yards per game and last in rushing attempts.

The game has huge importance in the race for a home playoff game. The Lions can clinch the season series against Calgary with a victory after winning a 41-40 shootout last month in Cowtown, when Nathan Rourke set a Canadian QB record of 488 passing yards in a game. A Calgary victory would put the Stamps two points ahead of the Lions for second place in the West, with the Lions holding a game in hand. The season series would hinge on the results of next Saturday's rematch between the Stamps and Lions at B.C. Place.

After losing by 21 to Montreal, I just hope they can be competitive this week and Adams shows enough encouraging signs that it provides some intrigue for the rematch here.
Offence obviously a big concern without Rourke’s brilliance. Now dealing with the Stamps pass rush with Pierson starting at guard for the first time in his career.

Another worry is Carey back in the Stamps line up and we have not looked good against the run of late minus another American on the d-line. I’m thinking it’s make or break for Williams as a returner or they have to sit another American receiver for the rematch if Carey goes off.

The Lions may juggle the ratio anyway next week if prized free agent Woody Baron makes his B.C. debut after his second stint on the 6-game injured list. Baron plays the 3-tech position where rookie Nathan Cherry is starting his second game this week. Cherry had no stats in his first start last week, while Montreal running backs consistently got to the second level. The Lions’ defensive line had 11 tackles against Montreal while the linebackers had 24, 17 of them from Jordan Williams and Ben Hladik.

Turnovers were incredibly costly last week and did not allow for the offence to have any consistency. Pass Blocking is going to be very important to let Adams get comfortable in the backfield.

3 minutes to game time and no pre-game comments here...... is anyone watching???....... does anyone care???

For the first time this year, I've picked BC to lose..... so far this week, my picks are 0-2..... I can only hope to go 0-3.

Expectations are low because they were so high with Rourke at QB. They’re the same team that led the league in offence and defence before Rourke’s injury. The Lions need a win to get back on track.

I think this is the first time this season we are not starting the game with the ball.

Why does the CFL allow BC to wear these uniforms making it tough to distinguish players. You'd think BC would want to show distinguished colours.

Great first drive capped off by a 10-yard TD run by Butler.

For the second straight game, the Lions have started Jordan Williams at weakside linebacker after listing Bo Lokombo as starter on the depth chart.
