Lions have announced OneRepublic will perform a pre-game concert prior to the "Homecoming" season opener against Edmonton. If they sound familiar they were the half-time act for the 2016 Grey Cup in Toronto. They are currently touring in Europe for the rest of May before taking a 6 week hiatus before starting the North American leg of their tour.

One of their videos.

At least it's not some rap "artist".

Major kudos for Doman pulling this off. He’s turning the season opener into an event beyond a football game. What other Vancouver team is doing this?

Another nugget: Details will also soon be announced for an opening day street party on Robson St. prior to the pre-game concert.

Fantastic to see! They are trying!

Per JJ Adams (Postmedia):

The concert will be preceded by a five-hour tailgate party outside the stadium on Terry Fox Plaza, an event that will shut down part of Robson Street and have two different DJs spinning sets.

This should help with presales and get a decent walk-up. I'd be happy with anything over 20K for the home opener. 22-24K would be outstanding.

Hear! Hear!
Music usually consists of melody and harmony. "Rap" contains neither.

Doman is doing what should have been done for the past 15 years; investing in the marketing side of the team is going to reap benefits.

Kudos to his efforts.

Or country "artist".
Or recycled Canadian wrinkly rockers.

It's pretty easy to see they are going after the target demographic they desperately need to attract.

Excellent choice!
