Metchie just went in the 2nd round 44th overall to Houston. In comparison Chase Claypool went 49th overall in 2020.
Metchie was the CFL's top-ranked prospect but I wouldn't expect to see him taken until late in the CFL draft, if at all.
I'd lean to the "if at all". Recent high Canadian prospects Chase Claypool (49th in 2020) and Josh Palmer (77th in 2021) were both skipped over in the CFL Draft.

Luketa went near the end of the 7th round 256th overall to Arizona. Somebody will take him mid-draft. He's from Ottawa so it wouldn't be a surprise if the REDBLACKS used that territorial bonus pick at the end of the 2nd. Their turf for that pick would be generally players born within 120km of Ottawa, eastern Ontario along the St. Lawrence and the Maritimes.

Waterloo QB Tre Ford has been invited to the Baltimore Ravens' rookie mini-camp. That probably won't diminish his CFL draft stock.

Luiji Vilain already taken by the Argos in the 2021 CFL Draft has signed with Minnesota as a UDFA. Meanwhile the Ford twins Tre and Tyrell along with Deionte Knight have received mini-camp invites with Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Washington respectively. That might affect their draft stock. Question is how much? NFL rookie mini-camps can run May 6-9 or 13-16 the latter which overlaps the start of CFL main camps. NFL mandatory mini-camps run in mid June. Odds of turning these invites into contract offers are never good but nonetheless they still inject a risk or unknown for teams considering drafting the prospect.

Can the get Lions 2021 1st round pick Daniel Josesph (DL NC State) signed this week? No NFL offers or mini-camp invites yet. Time would tell if he is ready to contribute immediately as another national player on the DL joining Menard and Betts, potentially Hammond too.

Decent national LB depth with Hladik, free agent signee Kevin Francis and Guzylak-Messam backing up our 2 starters plus an apparent weak offensive line 2022 class suggests BC will go the receiver route tomorrow night with the #4 pick.

Listening to Ryan Rigmaiden with Matt Baker last week, it sounds like the Lions' first option going into camp will be Knevel to replace Steward at guard while the "option" remains to start 3 Americans, signalling out Phillip Norman. Will be interesting to see the TC depth chart.

I wondered before here, if the Lions would be able to sign Daniel Joseph for this TC; and if they do, and he impresses in camp - could/would they carry 3 Canadian DEs on the game roster (doubtful IMO) or would one of the higher $$$ contract Betts or Menard get bumped or cut in favor of the minimum wage Joseph ? Menard does have the strength to play some inside reps at DT though.

And with the new CBA not announced yet - potential roster rule changes (3 vet American players able to play as Nationals, thus bumping 3 Canadian starters - down to 4 only ?; or, a mandate that 2 or 3 Canadians have to be on the field at all times on defence or offence ?) - could really affect roster thinking, and this coming draft thinking. ?

The Lions selected Latvian DL Karlis Brauns (6' 4, 270 lbs.) with the third overall pick in the CFL Global draft. He performed well at the CFL combine.

The Lions selected German DB Marcel Dabo in the second round, 16th overall.

The Lions pulled a bit of a surprise with their third overall pick, taking Saskatchewan DL Nathan Cherry (6-3, 240).

Cherry played DT for the Huskies and measured at 6-1 3/8, 271 at the CFL Combine = i.e. he is a big or bigger than some current CFL starting DTs like Mike Rose or Micah Johnson. And 26 bench reps shows outstanding strength.

Edmonton selected athletic Waterloo QB Tre Fore at No. 8 overall. He is comparable to Nathan Rourke. I expect Chris Jones to find ways to get him involved in the offence.

The local Philpot twins both went in the first round, and the Lions didn’t get either of them. Calgary took Jalen fifth overall and Montreal took Tyson ninth overall.

So we are stock piling national d-lineman with 1st round picks in as many years. How many can you have on your roster with Betts, Menard and Hammond already unless they think Joseph won’t be here.

Not a good feeling seeing a couple of still unproven co-GMs pass on a homegrown receiver who is then snapped up a couple picks later by Hufnagel and the Stamps.

Would Cherry still been at 11?

I get they are only interested in starting one national receiver but not exactly an ambulance of talent behind Cottoy.
