Lions 3rd game in 14 days. For the 3rd consecutive game the Lions will be facing another quarterback returning from injury. So far they are 2-0. Hope the trend continues. Despite rumours that Antonio Johnson will replace Levy Adcock, it would appear that the latter will make his 3rd start.

It makes sense to stick with the same lineup on a short week with only two full practices, both on the road and adapted to account for shortened rosters due to the absence of practice roster players, who have remained in B.C.

The Lions lost to the Argos in their first meeting but they gave that game away with costly turnovers before Jonathon Jennings was pulled. Jennings struggled against Rich Stubler's defence, completing only 11 of 18 passes for 132 yards. Travis Lulay completed 12 of 15 passes for 156 yards in relief. The Argos kicked six field goals and scored only one TD, which came in the fourth quarter.

The key to this game will be how well Jennings reads and attacks the Argo defence. Other opponents have tried to copy Stubler's formula of playing a lot of zone and giving false reads to force Jennings to hang onto the ball and make mistakes. I expect the Lions to run the ball at least 20 times to keep the Argos off balance and give Jennings more makeable second down conversions.

The Lions have led in every game this year except their recent blowout loss in Calgary. They've outscored their opponents in every quarter except the second. Their first and fourth quarters have been their best. The first quarter of this game should set the tone.

Lions need to exercise patience in attacking a Rich Stubler defence. Establishing the run is critical.

This game has me a bit worried. Argos will be rested. We're playing our 3rd game in a row with less than a week's rest between games. Moreover, the Argos have 4 returning starters, namely the always dangerous Ricky Ray and big strike weapon Tori Gurley.

While the boys look really relaxed and seemed to have enjoyed the sights on their Eastern swing, I sure hope they're focused on their "business trip" to get 2 wins and don't overlook this game. The Argos always seem to give us trouble and they're bound to come out of their "BMO funk" sooner or later. I just hope it's not tomorrow.

The key will be how much pressure we're able to put on Ray, simple as that.

I'm worried about this game too. Stubler knows our plug and play spread offence very well and its weaknesses. With only two practices I highly doubt we have introduced anything new but then again, we usually don't, no matter how much time we have to prepare.

With the Bombers and Edmonton playing improved football and only one game behind us in the standings, a Leos loss could really tighten things up. However a win would keep us close enough to Calgary, should they falter, as well as improve our comfort zone in the West.

I anticipate that we will run the football more in this game too. Allen had 76 yards on 10 carries against the Argos last time and we should run him more often in this game.

If we pressure Ray, he will dump the football. That is the style we want the opposing offence to play. However, if Ray has time, then playing defense against him can be very tough.

The 'Rain Man' Chris Rainey wants to be involved in our offence. But Buono is cool to Rainey getting more offensive reps than he did last game.

B.C. Fan believes our Leos will attempt to run the football 20 times in this game against the Argos.

Allen had 10 carries for 76 yards the last time we played the Argos for an impressive 7.6 yards per carry.

Against the Red Blacks last week, Allen rushed 13 times for 76 yards...an average of close to 6 yards per carry. Rainey also ran the football 4 times for an average of 5.3 yds. per carry.

Our Leos have inserted Shaq Murray Lawrence into some games this season, usually later in the second half of the game. He's carried the football 16 times this season (and that includes a 15 yard run) but he has not impressed, only averaging 2.8 yds. per carry. When you take away that one good run, Shaq Murray Lawrence has averaged less than two yards per run. He hasn't been dangerous on kick returns either.

Big test for Jones as an OC after being thoroughly shutdown by Stubler's defence in 2nd half of first meeting. What did Jones learn and what adjustments will be made? We will find out shortly!

Courtney Taylor has been inserted in the lineup for Geraldo Boldewijn, who came down ill the other day and hasn't recovered. Apparently game-day roster changes are allowed for non-football injuries. Taylor is a savvy veteran who is great at second-down conversions. He should help Jennings keep the chains moving.

Ronnie Yell went down in the pregame warmup. How bad? Apparently it doesn't look good....
