A cool story on cfl.ca: AC got suited up in full Als gear to play football with some neighbourhood kids. I recall from my earliest years on this board (can't believe it's almost 10 years!), someone or perhaps more than one person mentioned that as a kid they got to toss around a football with a former high-profile Lion (Joe Kapp, perhaps?). So I guess this is history repeating itself.

MONTREAL -- No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you; that is indeed Anthony Calvillo dressed in full gear, playing football with some kids from his neighbourhood.

Why, exactly, is pro football's all-time leading passer dressed in full gear playing football with some youngesters from his neighbourhood?

We've been told that he made a promise that he'd one day strap on the pads, don his uniform and lace up his cleats to the aforementioned neighbourhood crew...and you better believe that AC is a man of his word.

We're not sure if his stats from the game count towards his numerous passing records, check back later for confirmation.

Looks like some of those "kids" are a little taller than the others LOL. Guess they just had their growth spurt LOL.

Oh and I know everyone is thinking it so I'm just gonna come right out and say it. Where do some of those kids get the audacity to wear *gasp* NFL jerseys in the presence of a *CFL* legend? I bet that really put AC off. In fact, I'd say he never even threw them any passes just for that. I know it looks like the GB kid in the middle pic has the ball but that's surely either an INT or a fumble recovery.

question is, does he still have his own uni and helmet, or did he have to borrow from the als.

I was wondering the same thing. Just wearing the jersey — and it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine him still having one — would have been fine, I'm sure, but he really went the extra mile there, whatever he did to get his hands on all the gear. Either way, those kids will have a great story to tell in their later years.

Montreal's doing their BIG NIGHT for Calvillo on Oct 13 versus the Riders.

Often these big player nights don't go so well for the home team (remember Geroy Simon night?). I'm just glad the team Montreal is fielding NOW looks like it has a chance versus the Riders.

I hope its an awesome night for Calvillo. I'm 99.9999999% sure that the Al's will somehow get some kinda video message from Trestman congratulating his old QB to be part of the ceremonies......

the other 0.0000001 % would be Chris Berman.

should be their biggest attendance of the season. they didn't sell out for his record game in 2011 and i doubt they will for this one which is sad.

I wonder if Anthony Calvillo is doing this with a hidden agenda in that he hopes to win an award that has eluded him throughout his career - the Tom Pate Memorial Award.
Despite winning a whole bunch of awards, he wants more and what better way to retire than with just one more trophy to add and compliment his huge shelf full of trophies. The Tom Pate Memorial Award may not be the most prestigious award but other CFL legends have won that and he wants to be added.

Calvillo may be retired now but the CFL might make an exception for him. Or, he can sign a one day contract and officially make him a player for the 2014 season and then he can win the award.
