Having spent only less than three of his 14 CFL seasons as a Lion, Bryan Illerbrun is probably better known as a member of the Saskatchewan Roughriders with whom he spent the bulk of his career. Nevertheless he was a member of the 1985 Grey Cup championship team so it's hardly surprising the team acknowledged his passing this past Thursday:

The BC Lions Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of Bryan Illerbrun.

Illerbrun joined the BC Lions via trade in May 1984 for defensive lineman Brent Racette and stayed with the club for the better part of three seasons. His time in BC was highlighted by starts in all 16 regular season games at right tackle during the 1985 campaign which concluded with the club’s second CFL Grey Cup championship.

In September 1986, he was traded to Montreal (and then on to Saskatchewan) for a draft pick and future considerations. His Lions’ career encompassed 42 games plus another three in the post-season including his Grey Cup winning performance in 1985.
The Roughriders also acknowledged his passing in the Regina Leader-Post.

Yes, too sad as that is a young age by today's standards. Health is the most important thing in life.

Obit and photo here with link to online condolences one of which is a former coach with Ottawa and player from Ottawa as well.
