Anyone else following the Brier this week? I can't help but notice the resemblance between BC third Kevin Folk (son of Rick, his coach) and former NFLer Kurt Warner.

The playoff field is just about set with the round robin nearing completion; Alberta (9-1), Ontario (8-2) and Manitoba (8-3) have all clinched. BC (4-6) was eliminated just this afternoon, with only Northern Ontario (6-4) and Territories (5-5) remaining alive for the fourth and final berth, to be determined from the final draw this evening.

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
