Season ticket Total

Last year the lions had almost 22,000 season tickets, does anyone now what there total is for this year?

According to an article on TSN.ca today Ackles says they have surpassed last year's ST total which was 20,000. They are shooting for 22,500. The luxury boxes are sold out too.

Apparently, the club held a "state of the franchise" conference call this morning. Let's see how well the local media covers the call!

Bobby's sound bite was on TEAM1040 a moment ago and thinks they may even nudge up to 23,000 season tickets.

Was the high water mark 30k season tickets back in the early days of B.C. Place? If so, they aren't all that far from that mark again.

If the Lions hit the 23,000 mark it will be interesting to see what kind of inventory and seat selection is left for the casual fan.

The Lions current configration is around 33,000. Anyone looking to purchase flex season tickets cannot buy premium, platinum, gold or silver levels in the lower bowl — just bronze. Up top the limited premium and platinum seats are not available, leaving just upper gold and silver.

When we have had crowds in the 35,000 it's been when those up top sections snake around to the west zone which are nothing but corner or end zone seats.

Sounds crazy with it being a 60,000 seat stadium but the Lions are running out of sideline seats which season ticket holders are usually looking for. At some point they will have to look at opening up upper deck sections on the north side.

I think we'll need to see some more growth before the team is prepared to sell the upper north sideline seats on a season ticket basis. The club may be reluctant to have two "islands" of upper sideline seats because of logistics. The main broadcast camera faces south, so that sideline gets more "face time" on tv and should be sold first, as is the case. There could also be logistics (from a security and/or concession services POV) that favour one contiguous area of available upper level seating -- as opposed to two sideline groups. So that means pretty much the entire west upper endzone area (since the east one has all those tarps) would open before the upper north sideline, which I believe has been the case recently, on a game-by-game basis.

Those seats that are held by the business sector for advertising are still available and of course they are accounted for in the ST total, they are a large reason why the dark year totals don't seem as bad as they really were. They were sold, but not filled as the casual fan began to stay away as well.

For sure those will be available again but they are bronze level seats which the Lions still have plenty left in the lower bowl. It's one of the reasons why the 7-Eleven sections are often sparsely filled, never mind they are also under the replay screen.

The Lions must have more end zone seats in their seating configuration than any other team in the league by a considerable margin.
