If Wally doesn't get it this year then he never will.
Every button he hit this season (Warren, Young, Lockett) was right one and he had to deal with the same injuries to key players (Dickenson, Clermont, Simmons, Singh) as other coaches.
Never mind the level of excellence he has brought to the Lions in his impressive 4-year run.

Wally 100%. Sure he made some bad calls, but the amount of good ones outweigh them.

Got to be Wally. As Sammy says he made some pretty togh decisions look easy, and his team was the most consistent from start to finish. That indicates preparation, and preparation is the coaches job.
Berry's team started well in a weak Eastern division, got some adversity and tailed off.
I don't think anyone else deserves recognition.

The only blemish on Wally this year was the McCallum punt in overtime in Regina.....other than that boffo, he had a great season, with seemingly every other decision going in his favour.
Berry did bring the Bombers from a laughing stock (as Solar Max so eloquaintly put it...."The only sure fire bet...Winnipeg finishing last") to at least a playoff contender.
I'm a staunch Bomber supporter, but Wally wins this one......hands down.

I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008
Too often the Coach of the Year award goes to a coach in a turnaround situation. It's a lot tougher to have a team that has been close and lost a couple of seasons and improves on that than a turnaround situation. It's just much tougher to take the step we took this season.'m a staunch Bomber supporter, but Wally wins this one......hands down
Wally (its really a coaching staff awrd) deserves the award this season for a whole lot of reasons. Wally himself was a coach who turned himself around from the 2005 football season. He was decisive in 2006 and yet more relaxed... focused as well as prepared.
"When I went to Catholic high school in Philadelphia, we just had one coach for football and basketball. He took all of us who turned out and had us run through a forest. The ones who ran into the trees were on the football team". (George Raveling)

There should be drug testing on all the voters if Wally doesn't win it.
Yeah, in the NHL, the Jack Adams award often goes to the coach who displays the best improvement of the team from the previous season. If that case is applied to the CFL, then the Blue Bombers showed the best improvement from 10 points in 2005 to 18 points in 2006.Blitz wrote:Too often the Coach of the Year award goes to a coach in a turnaround situation. I can't disagree here. It is true, that often this kind of award goes to the guy who gets the biggest turnaround.cromartie wrote:Normally, I'd take the coach that improves his team the most from year to year.
This year, however, I'll side with Chris Cuthbert and take Wally.
