We are all sharply divided in what we like and those in charge at BC Place ( or anywhere else for that matter) know this . You make one segment happy , you piss off another no mattter which way you go .I'm not even going to ask them to play what I like . I go there to watch football , not listen to music . For anyone person to ask for just what they like is simply inconsideration for the rest . The end result of trying to keep everyone happy is probably what we got now .
The problem is that I think almost NOBODY is happy with ANY of the music now. For the most part, we don't seem to be asking for all of one thing - be it all-rap, all-metal, all-classics, etc. A balanced mix is fine. It's just ALL in serious need of updating.
:whs:

During one change-over you can play some Zeppelin. Then during the TV timeout have some DMX followed by some Metallica after the next play and then Roar You Lions Roar when the Leos score on the ensuing snap. Everybody's happy.
It still gets back to the same thing , your idea of what is a good mix is the next guy's idea of *poop* . And my idea of a good mix is you idea of *poop*. How 'bout some good old fashioned country music thrown in ?? Way under represented in the mix don't ya think ??

I personally like the music being an older guy. I don't come to football games to listen to music. It doesn't affect me at all unless it is screamingly loud. Ug. As far as Roar you lions Roar it is purrfect. It has tradition. It is great.

I made a point of trying to listen to the music last game, and to me, it just didn't matter what they play. (Except for Roar Lions Roar, that has to stay.)

I'm a little surprised that this is a sore spot with some. I go there to see football; I'd go to a concert hall if I wanted to hear music.

Hear hear. I don't recognize any music on the B.C. Place sound system so it doesn't matter what they play, as long as they play something to help boost the intensity of the game-day experience.

It's not so much listening FOR the music they play... it's when it becomes an intrusion. Some people just don't notice the music, but a lot of us do, despite it not being the REASON for being there. So we notice when it's outdated... or repetitive... or just plain lame. And it detracts from the game experience.

While I will agree there is room for improvement in the PA guy's music selection, sometimes he nails the mood.

I can vividly recall such a moment during a Lions game from around the Doug Flutie era. There was a TV time-out on the field and the over the PA wafted the opening guitar riff of the Hollies' "Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress)". It was purrfection - the Leos were ahead, the fans were happy, the dome was comfortable, and I realized heaven would probably be just like that moment. We all kind of rocked out for a while and I think that was the only time I have ever heard applause for the PA music. :rockin:

It's great when they can do that - a favorite example of mine is the Coliseum's PA crew playing Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" when the Giants' goaltender Tyson "Sexy" Sexsmith makes a particularly stellar save. The important thing is, they don't overdo it and play it on every stop - an example of that would be the Seahawks game I was at, years ago in the Kingdome, when every time the Vikings took a penalty, they played Judas Priest's "Breakin' The Law"... like, it was clever the first 80 times, but...

Or when there is a replay and they do the Jeopardy theme song over and over and over.
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

I do wish that Tim Donovan wouldn't shout quite so much, though.

:whs: Reminds me of going to hockey games when there were only three on-ice officials and the organist would play 'three blind mice'.

Wow, what a breath of fresh air tonight was. Tim Donovan wasn't pleading for noise on every single play like he normally does and the result was a much more organic crowd response throughout the entire game. I can't remember a regular season game that was as loud as tonight's was, and it was all incited by the players on the field or just the fans feeding off one another, not from somebody holding a microphone. Tim came in on a few key plays and I think it worked much better. Kudos to the Lions for the little change-up tonight, it was fantastic!
