Give the Canucks fans a break

They're already having to amp up their anti-depressants due to severe anxiety related to the canucks lack of a 3rd line left winger
Give the ball to LeeRoy!

Good to see that the Vancouver Canadians are wearing black jerseys tomorrow...and BC Lions ball caps, in recognition of Bob.

That...is class.

Okay, now is this extremely ironic.

Nobody on this message board many any mention when on June 13, 2008, Ian Barclay left us. :hypno:

You may be wondering....who is Ian Barclay? :bang:

And ironically, it seems like the only person who actually gave any condolences to Barclay was.......Bob Ackles himself in his last three weeks of his life!

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club is mourning the loss of Ian Barclay who passed away Saturday at Vancouver General Hospital.

A BC Lions executive for more than 23 seasons, Barclay served in various roles for the organization, including stints as a director (1965-73), president of the Western Football Conference (1969-70), Lions president (1970), and chairman of the club’s advisory board (1973-88).

“My memories of Ian Barclay are vivid,” said Lions President and CEO, Bob Ackles. “As a director, president, and chairman of the BC Lions, he was an instrumental part of our organization for many years and the contributions he made will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

Prior to joining the Lions in 1965, Barclay played two years for McGill University’s football team followed by two seasons with the Montreal St. Hyacinthe-Donnacona Navy – including the club’s 1944 Grey Cup Championship. A native of Montreal, Barclay began his business career as a barrister in Montreal in 1948 followed by 16 years serving as president and CEO of BC Forest Products Limited (1968-84).

Nothing could be worse for the Ackles family than us finding fault in how others are or aren't adequately expressing condolences. It would be sad indeed if they stumbled onto this thread.

:whs: :whs: And this is exactly what I've been trying to say about this all along. In the midst of everyone saying what a "classy guy" Bobby was, so many are displaying such a complete LACK of class by being self-righteous about how others aren't paying tribute. Even bringing it up in the first place is insulting to his memory. IMHO, of course.

Okay, Brian Burke was representing the Vancouver Canucks at the funeral of Bob Ackles.

Happy now? :sigh:

No, Brian Burke was representing Brian Burke. Not the Vancouver Canucks, Anaheim Ducks, NHL or anything else. He and Bob obviously had a good working relationship when the two men ran the city's professional sports franchises. Brian was also a former B.C. Lions season ticket holder, which speaks very well to his sense of community.

I believe everyone who feels strongly about this topic has had a chance to weigh in on it. When we start micro-analyzing who attended Bob's Celebration Of Life and why, the thread has obviously reached its 'best before' date. For that reason, I'm locking 'er down./
