It's an interesting read, with quotes from Brady Oliveira about the Bomber run game, from Zach Collaros and O'Shea about the absence of Dalton Schoen and from O'Shea about the decision to play Jamal Parker at cornerback instead of veteran Winston Rose.THE ‘GTD’ DESIGNATION:
The Blue Bombers will have up until 30 minutes before kickoff to decide on the status of Demski, Bailey and McCrae. And if they can’t go, they could then pull one of the receivers into the lineup, with that group including Markeith Ambles, Jeremy Murphy, Ravi Alston, or Ronnie Blackmon.
Schoen, for what it’s worth, has been out since the win over B.C. in Vancouver last month, missed the last two games of the regular season and hasn’t been on the practice field. The Blue Bombers’ last two practices of this week were closed to the media, but Demski and Bailey were out there running, although not in gear in the session on Wednesday.
Asked what happens between now and Saturday with the GTD guys, O’Shea said this:
“Work out. Rest. Come here tomorrow, work out and see how they do. We’re not in a rush to wake them up, put it that way. We’re not getting them out of bed at five in the morning. The way it’s written, we’re allowed up to half an hour before game time… whether it takes that long, I don’t know yet.”

Reading the linked game story on bombers.com what really jumped out was that holding Oliviera to 50 yards less than the Lions surrendered (130 vs 80) helped enable the Argonauts to win last year's Grey Cup. And with the reported holes in the Bomber receiving corps, we can expect more screen and short passes to Brady as well as the Bombers correctly aim to find different ways to give him the ball.
In addition to VA needing a "career game", the result will largely be decided by the toughness and resilience of the Lions line and linebackers in the second half. That's when the "smashy-smashy" tactics of a pounding fullback really wears down a defence, and that's what we saw in last year's Western Final with annoying and unstoppable predictability.
(And it must be hard to practice for the Bombers' style of battering game if you are practising against Smoke.)
