As might be expected for a team with a 5-9 record, the Lions placed only 3 players on the CFL West Division all-star team but they were all worthy choices: receivers Lucky Whitehead and Bryan Burnham and DB T.J. Lee. I believe they’re all pending free agents and fan favourites as well so they should be priority re-signings.

I thought Bo Lokombo would have beat out Calgary's Sankey, but team's with loosing record's and out of the playoffs, don't get much respect or all-star selections. And deservedly so.

Lucky Whitehead was easily the top FA signing of last season and Burnham routinely turns 50/50 balls into 90/10 plays, so well deserved.

TJ Lee with Ryan Phillips as his coach, he plays like Phillips out there, only more of a hitter.

Lee is a great tackler who attacks the line in run support and sacrifices his body on special teams.
He finished second on the team in defensive tackles, special teams tackles and total tackles.

As for Lokombo, West Division voters obviously ignored the ratio. They selected only 4 nationals,
all on offence. East Division voters selected 8 nationals, 6 on offence and 2 on defence, including former B.C. DE David Menard.

It could be pretty ironic if Jordan Williams (top rookie) and Bo Lokombo (top Canadian) are MOP finalists and not all-stars. Bombers of course have the luxury of starting 11 Americans on defence which reflects the all-star selections.
Nationals are not making the same impact at receiver as we have seen in the past yet most teams start at least 2.
Nick Demski (11th) was the lone Canadian among the league's top 20 in receiving yards. Cottoy was actually 3rd (23rd overall) in a limited role.

Great to see and both have excellent chances of winning awards. A rare luxury to be able to start two nationals at LB. Kudos to McElvoy and Campbell for bringing Lokombo back to BC after his excellent season in 2018 and Hervey decided to let him walk.

Is he signed beyond 2021? Who knows but should be another off-season priority.

Congratulations to Bo Lokombo on winning the CFL Award as Most Outstanding Canadian and Jordan Williams for being named Most Outstanding Rookie. Despite the team’s disappointing 2021 season, the Lions have some talented players who deserve individual recognition.

The CFL Players Association announced its all-star team chosen by players Friday, and in a surprise B.C. guard Sukh Chungh was named as a league all-star, along with B.C. receivers Bryan Burnham and Lucky Whitehead. No other Lions were voted to the players’ team.

Great to see Jordan and Bo recognized. Bo ends a 15 year drought (Brent Johnson) for Most Outstanding Canadian.

Can anyone remember the last time the winner of the that award wasn’t even a division all star? Telling how teams are stacking their American talent on defence.

Bighill was the all star MLB and Sankey, playing MLB for Stamps had more tackles than Lokombo at WLB, so the voters decide to go with 2 MLBs and thus Lokombo gets to be MOC but not an all star. :dizzy:

Receivers Bryan Burnham and Lucky Whitehead have been named to the CFL all-star team, as selected by football reporters and head coaches. The B.C. receiving corps was arguably the best on the league, and the strength of the team. I don’t know if the receivers made Michael Reilly look better than he was or vice versa. Probably a bit of both. It helps to be able to throw 50/50 balls to Burnham all over the field and have him pull down a league-leading 67 catches (72% of his targets), and to be able to throw to Whitehead all over the field and have him catch 73% of his targets and rack up a league-leading 447 yards after the catch. Those two players can make any quarterback look good. (And they both did this despite suffering broken hands during the season.)
