Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Why would you go with a quarterback that hasn't seen action all game ? Jennings got the Lions to the one yard line. Why not let him finish the drive ??

The QB sneak works best on a quick count unless you're trying to draw your opponent offside. There's no advantage to a long count on first and goal at the one.

We have the best mobile QB in the league so if course let's put in McGhee and make sure the Elks know exactly what the play call will be. Cortez has to go.

Reilly throws it back to TJ Lee at midfield. So we only lose field position on the fumble.
