Tell us what you are watching and when. If there are any classic moments and especially if they involve Canada.

At this timeline, Canada's women's soccer team lost a round robin game to Japan and next play on Saturday.

I be watchin the news to see how security issues are working out

I didnt even know the games were already started, nor do I know the events.

soccer is probably the only event I would be interested in, if I happened to come across it.

Looking forward to the Opening Ceremonies. I can imagine how the Londoners are feeling on the eve of the Olympics

Doubt it unless it's on tape delay... all Lions games from now through August will kick off between 10p-2a London time.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

I don't doubt the Olympic coverage won't impact the Lions/CFL games but it is weird, nonetheless. The Canadian/Japanese soccer game for e.g. I turned on Sportsnet and TSN and they were both showing the same feed. I know the companies are connected but still I haven't seen a sporting event before on both Sportsnet Pacific and TSN.

For me, I think I enjoy the Winter Olympics more. Can't explain why. I'm sure I'll tune in to some events but don't have any circles on the 'to watch list' yet. This is one benefit of newspapers, IMO. They might do a story on a guy/gal whose going to be competing. I end up watching an event that wasn't on my radar. For e.g. I think there is a BC born shot-putter (who was a hammer thrower, IIRC). He has some Coach from Russia that talked him into changing his sport to shot-put and he's got a shot at the medal. So, I guess thats one event I'll try to take in but I don't know what date mens shot put is. It just sounded like a neat story even though the event itself, doesn't excite me much.... Guess we'll see.

I usually only watch the team events in both summer and winter, but I will also try to watch some of the taekwondo since my son is now a certified instructor.

How do you think Canada will do in the 2012 Summer Olympics compared to the past results since 1976?

Year - # of Gold Medals - # of Total Medals
1976 - 0 - 11
1984 - 10 - 44
1988 - 3 - 10
1992 - 7 - 18
1996 - 3 - 22
2000 - 3 - 14
2004 - 3 - 12
2008 - 3 - 18
2012 - ? - ?

Canadian flag bearer Simon Whitfield struck gold in 2000. Let's see if he can repeat that this year.

Opening ceremonies (were those live? at going for 1am London time?) bumped the Als-Argos to TSN2. Now they're back on TSN.

They have *four* official languages in CH; French is one of them albeit not the majority one.
