But I think a topic on the new mayor deserves its own thread.
But first, in retrospect how did you think about Sullivan's three year term as major of Vancouver?
According to his campaign page that I included in that thread, Sullivan pledged to:
I suppose the easiest way to judge was the quantifiable promise, which was not kept. In late 2005 when Sullivan was elected, a one-zone adult fare was $2.25. So much for making fares lower as it is now $2.50. And in the other threads, a lot of you have criticized Sullivan on various things. Perhaps the biggest one was the fact that he never bothered to show up at the rally for the 2006 Grey Cup champions. As your mayor, I will:
-Keep business and residential property taxes to a minimum.
-Keep all 6 lanes of the Burrard Street Bridge open, and add more capacity for bikes and pedestrians.
-Lower bus fares and work for a more transit-friendly city.
-Put more police on our streets and in our neighbourhoods.
-Reconvene the Vancouver Caucus with city councillors, MLAs and MPs, to ensure that the city receives the funding and support needed from senior levels of government.
Vancouver felt it's time for a new beginning.
Do you trust this man?
