Hello Lionbackers
I am making some changes tonight that hopefully will speed up this painfully slow site

It may take 24 to 48 hours for things to speed up at your end but please do post in this thread any changes you notice as far as speed and loading of error pages. Also if you post can you mention if your on a computer, an ipad type device or a phone.

We will get this figured out, thanks for your help

Just noticed this thread (after the old school Lion in a helmet masthead).

Using Opera on a desktop (I very seldom post on my Android phone). This thread was initially very slow to load--compared to existing threads. Most importantly, not one incidence of the Cloudflare Error 522. That's a big improvement.

You shouldn't be getting any of those Cloudflare errors anymore, if you do clear your cache

I was going to say the same thing--very quick to load pages on my Telus Optik PureFIbre 75 internet connection. Then I decided to try something more challenging. On Opera, I went to the big 25 page thread
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29941
that has not been active since Sept 17th and got this
Error 522 Ray ID: 6660c9c5c98a61ee • 2021-06-27 18:37:42 UTC

I switched over to Chrome and didn't see another Error 522 until I went to a couple of the long dormant section headings SCOUT TEAM ROOM and THREAD ARCHIVE
and got an Error 522 on both. One refresh and both came back to life.

On the trivial side, most of the user avatars are fixed.

Next I cleared my cache on both browsers, and went to this old 2007 thread
https://lionbackers.com/bc_lions/viewto ... 12&t=12467
and got this:
Error 522 Ray ID: 6661062caf671366 • 2021-06-27 19:18:56 UTC
Again one refresh and it was back.

The good news is no Error 522's are happening in any of the current years threads.

That is a caching error, Cloudflare no longer plays any part for this website. so whether its a caching issue with your browser or the host of the site they should disappear over time
Error 522 indicates that Cloudflare is unable to reach the origin web server and the request times out. ... Check that the origin web server is active and accepting HTTP requests. Verify that the DNS settings in your Cloudflare account are correct

I keep getting messages on my iPhone XR that Safari couldn't open the page because the server stopped responding. It's only slightly better on my laptop using Chrome with Windows 10.

For me its a bit intermittent. Sometimes I log in very quickly and other times it takes a long time and then fails. I'm using Safari on a MacBook Air. Earlier today, I did notice that the last time I used the "Quick Links" pulldown and then "New Posts", it did not work.

This time it opened up like I had never closed it down..... very fast.... and this thread also opened up amazingly quick....

Things are working great on my laptop, but on my iPad and iPhone I am getting some slow loading pages and timeout errors.
I don’t really understand why but I’m pretty sure the issue will resolve itself over the next few days 🤞

Quick update--on a PC there are no loading delays or error messages at all (and I went to some of the oldest pages on the site). Hopefully visitors who were frustrated in the May-June downtime get around to checking it out again.

The site is still brutally slow for me, with a lot of general errors on my phone and laptop at the same time.

I just got the same error 15 minutes ago (first time I've seen it).
