If you have issues or questions about using the new board maybe you can help each other out here in this thread.

This is the first time I have been on the site in 2+ weeks, and was shocked when the home page first loaded. Looks good so far - change is inevitable.

Ditch the option of using different colour font though....

Hey Derek, here's some feedback:

#1.
When viewing a long thread that had multiple pages, the previous version was set up so that there was an underline (indicating a hyperlink) for all pages other than the one the user was currently viewing. That allowed the user to know what page they were currently viewing. Now, there is no such indication as to which page the user is looking at. I think that previous feature should be brought back.

#2.
It seems like the Search engine is only displaying search results for posts that were made after the upgrade, but not before. For example, if you do a keyword search for Printers, you will only get five results while a search for Dunigan will not bring any results.

#3.
The feature on the Home page that showed which users had logged in in the last 24 hours should be brought back.

#4.
The feature that allowed a YouTube video to be incorporated in a post by enclosing it with should be brought back too.

#5.
What do you all think about the feature that allows the user to browse Roar Room or General Discussion posts separately?

One improvement I've noticed is that the features associated with "new posts" now seem to be smarter. If I log in and then log out (or get timed out) before having read all the new posts since my previous login, the unread posts remain classified as unread until I open their respective threads in a subsequent login.

For purposes of this improved feature, individual pages of a multipage thread are considered separate threads. In other words, if I fail to notice that a thread has continued onto another page(s), and click on the "view new posts" link, it still shows that thread as having unread posts, and if I click to the new posts of that thread once more, it takes me to the start of the first new page I previously missed (so it seamlessly picks me up where I left off).

Good stuff.

I didn't notice that any of this was the case before. At any rate it was certainly not as easy to find missed new posts from a prior login; the date/time stamps were all I could figure to go by.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

5 is already available .... just click on the room title

3 and 4 will be back in time

2 is as good as I can do

1 I'll work on ...... it's a matter of finding the right setting in the css file .... but often when you change 1 thing you change 6 others

One thing I've noticed, things seem MUCH faster - loading a thread, changing pages, etc.

I noticed something odd regarding the older posts. It seems like threads that were polls were somehow salvaged during the upgrade, whereas older posts that were ordinary threads were lost.

For example, in the CFL Football forum, pages 35 to 37 consist of all posts that are polls, ranging from Nov 30, 2006 to the very last thread on April 23, 2005. But for the non-poll threads, they only start on page 35 from Dec 13, 2006 onwards.

Why were threads that were polls saved?

Is it possible to salvage the non-poll threads before Dec 13, 2006?

Polls aren't affected by the pruning feature ...... what's gone is gone if it hadn't been posted into in over a year it really wasn't worth keeping

You could always start a new thread now and then, right? Not the end of the world.
