It doesn't really matter at this point. My already jaded impression of their politics and their political system has been irrevocably set in concrete. They are #1 in the greatest disparity between opportunity to learn and actual wisdom. Trump is just a symptom of the bigger problem which is that their system, the self proclaimed greatest in the world, is not much better than some of the country's they complain about. Money, influence peddling, character assassination, fabrications, intimidation are way too ingrained in their system and Trump is the most obvious, recent product of that. They need a complete overhaul of their political structures and since they can't even agree on something modest like healthcare, the likelihood that they would have another civil war is greater than their chances of ever working together for the greater benefit.
They brag about the system of gov't they have and now they can't see it doesn't work.

Their founders didn't contemplate political parties not even in the Senate.

The Electoral College (highly undemocratic ) set that way to make a bad President didn't get in.

No one branch of gov't- until Trump decided he didn't have to go by convention and norms - can act in isolation of the others.

Heard a great quote from this story on the news tonight:
One day somebody will explain to me why it is that, at a time when science has never been wiser, or the truth more stark, or human knowledge more available, populists and liars are in such pressing demand.
Populism and liars and right wingers and hate and profligate spending have radically altered govt these days.

As totally expected the Senate acquits President Trump over his impeachment trial, even though fellow Republican Mitt Romney voted against acquittal.

Did you see the 2020 State of the Union last night?

The Iowa caucus results still haven't been revealed and from what information that has been released, there's no clear winner either. If Iowa represents the rest of the Democratic primaries/caucuses, then the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination will be a close one without an obvious winner even after several primaries. And in such a case, that usually means that whichever Democratic who eventually wins will not be very popular and Democratic voters will change their allegiance and vote for Trump.

it goes to show that the overwhelming majority of politicians have no integrity.

all other things being equal, if Trump was a Democrat then almost all democrats would be for him and republicans would be against him on this issue

Best part of the State of the Union speech was Nancy Pelosi tearing up Trump's speech.

Several Democratic candidates have suspended their campaigns. Updated the Poll to include the 5 remaining active candidates:

Joe Biden (former Vice President)
Michael Bloomberg (Mayor from New York)
Tulsi Gabbard (Representative from Hawaii)
Bernie Sanders (Senator from Vermont)
Elizabeth Warren (Senator from Massachusetts)

Michael Bloomberg has just dropped out, and it looks like for sure it's going to be a two way race between Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. So updated the poll as the two finalists.

As totally predicted, Elizabeth Warren has dropped out as well. So there won't be a woman Presidential candidate this year. I mentioned this before that had Biden decided to run in 2016, then as sitting VP would have have easily secured the Democratic nomination over eventual winner Hillary Clinton and runner-up Bernie Sanders as that was the case in the case for the last 60 years.

Since there hasn't been too much debate and tension between Biden and Sanders, unlike say Joe Biden arguing against Kamala Harris or Bernie Sanders against Michael Bloomberg, then I wonder if whichever one wins will choose the other as their running mate.

The last time such a case occurred was when Democratic winner John Kerry chose second place finisher John Edwards.

It looks like despite the huge debate she had with Joe Biden last June on the issue of school bussing:

Kamala Harris has decided to endorse Joe Biden.

Joe Biden who is currently leading in the Democratic primaries says the he will choose a woman as his running mate - and that would be the third time in American history after Geraldine Ferraro in 1984 and Sarah Palin in 2008. I suppose Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar would be the most likely chosen, although despite the debate with her, Kamala Harris might still be a possiblity. But that probably wouldn't look good among Democratic supporters and if the two already had a huge debate in the primaries, who's to say they won't argue when in office?

Bernie Sanders has dropped out of the Democratic race. So this means that Joe Biden will definitely win the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination. Despite all the competition, it looks like the former VP made it. I wonder if any of his Democratic competitors will NOT support him.

Let's see who he will choose as a running mate.

I'll update the poll once we see who the Democratic VP candidate is.

President Putz continues to put his foot in his mouth.

It amazes me that so many still support and make excuses for him. Either that or downright denial of the facts.
