Just happy the one brother was caught and alive, that should help shed some light on the atrocities of their actions. Plus, it may lead to a quicker capture of any others involved.

It wasn't until several days later was revealed that the older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was actually married with a 3-year old daughter. The wife, Katherine Russell, has kept a very low profile and the media isn't chasing her. I guess she's presumed innocent as nobody has labeled her as an accomplice and co-conspirator.

"What the Senator is advocating for, however, is torturing someone because it feels good. Not for critical information that can’t be obtained in any other manner, but rather because doing so serves as revenge for a crime that the man in question hasn’t been convicted of yet."

State Senator - a bit of a lone wolf in this. Gotta love the 30 min in a room with just him, Osama and a baseball bat.

Just saw this freaking clown on Piers Morgan advocating torture. He is not got a lot of support but when they talk about human rights in China while touting how superior they are - this type of thing and the Guantanamo stand in stark contrast to what the US Constitution and its founding fathers stand for and believe in.

Allan Dershowitz made the point that all Presidents if faced with the location of where a ticking time bomb was would agree to torture on this same tv show - he has written on the Case for Torture Warrants after 911:

As to Canada being a target for domestic terror, it is not a surprise. While we may have had less incidents we are not and have not ever been immune from this.

http://www.globalincidentmap.com/ < they map this stuff here.

The problem with Boston type terror and possibly this one in Canada is that these lone wolves are harder to catch before it happens as they are just living like normal and not in contact with the A team as the expert called them on CNN.

I can't find the story from a paper the other day that listed the domestic terrorists and basically outlined how normal they were living and acting (mostly). They listed some terrorist in the UK - family man, nice guy, doctor, doing community service and then caught for terror.

The more people are disenchanted from the mainstream society combined with radical religious leaders - a bad combo.

American politicians ... :thdn: Pretty disgusting lot. Is that the best the country has to offer?

Meanwhile, reportage is not much better.

And the condescending attitude to Canada lives on. That will change, when even the most head-in-the-sand Americans realize that their country's best days are in the past. Isn't the UK at the point now where they realize they are no longer the Top Dog, that their country no longer leads? That day is not all that far off for the U.S. it seems to me.

Reporter expressing disdain and condescension towards Canada, apparently because politicians and some government representatives up here are bilingual and use both languages with the media ...

Way to go, Shep. Nice suit. Nice hairdo. Modulated, media voice. Idiotic point of view ... :thdn:

Too bad you don't understand French, or German, or Spanish, or Italian, or Japanese, or Mandarin/Cantonese Chinese, or even cultural differences. But, Hey, the U.S. is Top Dog, and they don't have to understand anything like that. D'oh ... (Canada has two languages? How retarded is that? Switzerland has four? Even more retarded. )

For a country that has the advantages that they do, it is never ending shock at just how obtuse some of them can be in the halls of power. Sadly, they seem to be basically an unhappy nation. Scared for their own security, suspicious and mistrustful of just about everybody both at home and abroad, finding false comfort at the end of a firearm. At some level, I hope for better things from them but they seem to have become very lost as a nation, seemingly losing the larger meaning behind the words that they so vigorously defend in their constitution. The very pillars of their democracy, free speech, due process all seem to become casualties when it suits. In short, they don't practice what they preach and have created their own crazy prison that only enlightenment can breach.

Americans love to blame everybody else but themselves. Remember how they went on about Canada harbouring terrorists after 911. The reality is that the Americans let the terrorists into their country not Canada.

I think there the disconnect in the USA is not the American people who all don't believe this hooey their politicians and lobbyists buy into.

As Al Gore has just said - democracy has been hi-jacked by money. It is about the big lobbies that influence political views as well as politicians who pander to biases in the electorate but guess what - Canadians are just the same.

The US is no longer the home of the freest on the earth and as recently as 2011 Obama has signed new laws that say if someone's data is in the USA (ie. a Canadians medical records) under their national security - that data is open to them.

The whole debate on whether to treat this bomber under their justice system or the Guantanamo way is shocking.

While they are vigilant in the US on the 2nd Amendment, they sleep while freedoms are eroded and rights violated - all the while pointing out how China is so bad.

What the marathon attacks have shown that to me is quite new is the power of the public now to help out. Also the fact they took this moron alive is a fantastic credit to these law enforcement officers who got him out of the boat alive when he kept his hand going back into the boat as he sat on the side. You have to know those police on scene who were just the ones close by were in fear for their safety including suicide vests. Just one trigger happy guy could have left that guy dead.

Bizarre twist today. Friends'(older brother) murder back in 2011 being re-looked at.

This is very good news. The USA will use their justice system. Good discussion of this at Lawfare.

In fact here is the transcript of this clown's first hearing:

Many people cannot judge reality. Are there conspiracies? Yes. And some don't believe some of them. Do some people see conspiracy where there is none? Yes.

I have found that some people who have emigrated from countries where the governments were completely dishonest have a hard time judging when there is a conspiracy and when there is not.

Some people think that the CIA is behind the World Trade Center collapse.

Some people think that the Boston bombings are the work of the CIA, with the brothers somehow framed.

And of course some relatives cannot accept that their nephew or son, et cetera could be involved.

Well some pictures are hard to dispute, although even those "could" be attributed to those devils at the CIA.

Here are some photos taken of the shootout in the street.

This is getting very bizarre although there is NO evidence yet the older brother was involved.

But what this proves is that if you set out to do any sort of crime and you don't disclose anything about it to any other people you can possibly get away with this stuff for a long time. Police solve a lot of crime just due to loose lips that eventually lead to a tip.
POLICE are reportedly looking into suspected Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev's possible involvement in a horrific triple murder that killed his former roommate.

The homicide victims were discovered in an apartment in Waltham, Massachusetts, around the tenth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Their throats were cut so badly their heads were nearly decapitated.

Tamerlan, 26, who died in a gun battle with police early on Friday morning after allegedly masterminding the Boston atrocity alongside his brother Dzhokhar, 19, had trained with one of the murder victims, according to a report on ABC News.

The victim, 25-year-old Brendan Mess, had reportedly been helping Tsarnaev transition from boxing into a possible career in mixed-martial arts during sparring session at the Wai Kru gym in Allston. It was not clear whether Tsarnaev knew the other two victims: Raphael Teken, 37, and Erik Weissman, 31.
Prior to Boston bombings Tsarnaev was already known to police for his violent behavior. In July 2009 he was arrested for domestic violence after his then-girlfriend called 911 to say she was being beaten up. The case was later dismissed.
In the Waltham murders the three victims' mutilated bodies were left covered with marijuana and thousands of dollars.

A police investigator told ABC the murders were "the worst bloodbath I have ever seen in a long law enforcement career."
"There was no forced entry, it was clear that the victims had let the killer in. And their throats were slashed right out of an al Qaeda training video. The drugs and money on the bodies was very strange," the investigator said.

Bite the hand that feeds you.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was the beneficiary of American welfare payments. That is one thing that disgusts me about this act, and this hatred, that leads to death and injuries for the innocent.

I can understand the mother being in denial: Her sons could not do this. It is a setup. It was all a staged act, without blood. The U.S. took away her sons. But if the U.S. is so bad, people should not emigrate to that country. If they do emigrate, they should take the U.S. for what it is, and they should be grateful for the opportunities. The U.S. has many problems, but actions against the innocent are unjustifiable.

And if you are Muslim, and you emigrate to the U.S., beware of radicalization of your children, turning them into enemies of the country that has given them the chance to improve their lives.

I can't help but feel that this kind of independent terror activity does nothing good for the radical, terrorist Muslim cause. If true jihadists believe, and have integrity, these stupid boys greatly lack that. They bring nothing but shame on their families, their "faith" and their ethnicity. IMO Tamerlan was unhappy, and cloaked himself in something bigger than himself, and used it for his own hatred of all things American. He and his brother wanted to go and "party" in Times Square. I think we can surmise what they meant by "party."

3 more detained in Boston attack

Detained students enjoyed attention
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
NEW: Third suspect identified, charged with lying to investigators
Two students from Kazakhstan are charged with obstructing justice
Police say there is no threat to the public
A third person arrested is a U.S. citizen
(CNN) -- Two classmates and a friend of Boston Marathon bomb suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have been jailed on charges they tried to throw investigators off their friend's trail, federal prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Boston police announced the arrests Wednesday morning, adding that there was "no threat to the public." The classmates, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev, are both from Kazakhstan. They were already in federal custody on immigration charges, their lawyers told CNN.
The third suspect, Robel Phillipos, is a U.S. citizen. Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev are charged with obstruction of justice, while Phillipos is charged with lying to federal agents probing the bombing, according to court papers.
All three are scheduled to make their first appearance before a judge Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. attorney's office in Boston said.

Latest on the investigation
All three are accused of removing items from Tsarnaev's dorm room at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth after the bombings, which killed three people and wounded more than 260, federal officials said.
Law enforcement officials believe they helped destroy evidence that might further implicate Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in the bombing by disposing of fireworks and his laptop, a U.S. government official said.
One official said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev contacted the three after FBI agents released photographs of Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan -- but before they were identified by name -- and asked them to dispose of the items. The suspects said they did not know the significance of what they were doing, the official told CNN.
Another federal law enforcement official said two of three lied to the FBI when asked about whether they had seen the suspects or knew of their whereabouts after the bombings.
That official said the suspects threw out backpacks of fireworks from the dorm room, leading to a two-day search of a New Bedford landfill last week.
Alan Dershowitz, a prominent defense attorney and Harvard law professor, said called the obstruction charge "weak," suggesting it was meant to pressure the suspects into providing more information on Tsarnaev.
"If that's the best the feds have now, then they're just squeezing," Dershowitz told CNN. "It doesn't sound like they have very much new here."
Carjacking victim recalls experience
Tamerlan Tsarnaev died after a gun battle with police early in the morning on April 19. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was arrested that night in a Boston suburb and is being treated for gunshot wounds at a federal Bureau of Prisons medical center in Devens, Massachusetts.
Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev appear in a photograph with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev taken in New York's Times Square during an earlier visit. They were taken into custody last month on charges that they had violated the terms of their student visas, Kadyrbayev attorney Robert Stahl told CNN.
Stahl said Kadyrbayev "did not attend class regularly." Federal law enforcement sources said at the time that the Kazakh students were being detained "in an abundance of caution" because authorities wanted detailed information on the Tsarnaevs' movements in the weeks and days before the attack.
Early discussion of avoiding the death penalty
One of the reasons Kadyrbayev drew investigators' attention was because of changes to his Facebook page, a source briefed on the Boston probe said. Kadyrbayev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev changed their profile photos within 15 minutes of each other in the pre-dawn hours of April 19, while the Tsarnaevs were on the run, the source said.
Tsarnaev, who appears to have had access to a wireless device at that time, changed his to a black-and-white photo, while Kadyrbayev changed his photo to one of him wearing an Iron Man mask, the source said.

When they say they were unaware of the enormity of what they did, aiding the accused, I am not buying it.
