I cannot remember a single QB between Kapp and Tagge.

Anyone ever attend a Vancouver Blazers game?

I got into a few Toronto Toros games in Toronto in 74. Got into the gardens free because I knew some employees doing the games.

Wore my army uniform. People kept asking me where their seats were.

Season ticket holder for the Blazers. Top of the Reds aisle seat, center ice. Still have all the ticket stubs and game programs.

going to a Vancouver Mounties game.

I was 12 in 67. We used to take our gloves and snag foul balls which they let us keep.

Don't know if they still let people keep them?

good times

do you remember

what happened 40 yrs ago today, where you were, what you were doing and who you were with, when you heard the news?

I was playing hearts with 3 girls at a YWCA residence in Toronto, around 3 pm, when another girl came running in with the news.

It was a hot sunny day driving home from BC Penitentiary when I noticed that the radio was playing Elvis songs nonstop. I was stunned when the DJ announced that Prestley had passed.

Who remembers 27 years ago in 1990 ???

The three most popular movies were probably Ghost, Dick Tracy, and Home Alone
USA invaded Panama to dispose Manuel Noriega.
Nelson Mandela was released in South Africa.
WrestleMania VI was held at the then-Skydome with Ultimate Warrior defeating Hulk Hogan.
Germany reunited.
The Meech Lake Accord failed.
West Germany won the FIFA World Cup 1-0 over Argentina on a late penalty shot.
Iraq invades Kuwait.
Mikhail Gorbachev wno the Nobel Peace Prize just as he is about to lose power with the imminent breakup of the USSR.
Sammy Davis, Jr. and Jim Henson died on the same day.
The Vancouver 86ers won their third straight CSL title.
The Edmonton Oilers won their fifth Stanley Cup while the Vancouver Canucks with so much optimism over last year's 7-game playoff round finished the second to worst record in the NHL and drafted Petr Nedved.

Finally.........

After a disappointing 7-11 1989 season for the BC Lions in which they missed the playoffs for the first time since 1982, changes were coming in that coach/GM Joe Galat was fired, and incumbent starting QB Matt Dunigan was traded to start the 1990 season. Joe Kapp was brought in as GM and Lary Kuharich was brought in from Calgary as HC - and in Calgary the new HC was none other than Wally Buono beginning his CFL coaching debut. Joe Paopao came back from retirement to compete for the starting QB job along with Doug Flutie, Major Harris, and incumbent backup Rickey Foggie. After winning two close pre-season games, the Lions tied the season opening with Calgary, and had a 2-3-1 record with two close wins after the 1/3 mark. Unfortunately, it was all downhill after that along with a huge player and staff turnover rate and the team went 6-11-1 and missed the playoffs for the second time. :bang:

If there was any good about missing the playoffs in 1990 was that the next 27 years were relatively good with only two non-playoff seasons. :good:

I suppose 27 years is a relatively long time as that's about a third of a human lifespan and since then, the Lions captured four Grey Cups with only one loss as opposed to only two Grey Cups wins and three losses and numerous non-playoff seasons in the 27 years prior to 1990. :juggle:

The way I remember is that Paopao wasn't expecting to play in 90 but suited up because of injuries and flutie not quite ready yet. Ironic that he was having his best season before he himself was injured. injuries suck.
