Kato's obituary plus GoFundMe site for costs of burial , etc.

The Lions weren't likely to be offering full benefits to him.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ken "Kato" Kasuya. Born in Vancouver, Ken was predeceased by his father Kenzo, his mother Miwako and sister June. Ken is survived by his brothers Robert and Roy (Janine), niece Katie (Ian), nephews, Danny and Ivan and his uncle, many aunties, and cousins.

Landing his dream job at the age of 13 made Ken a BC Lion at heart for the duration of his life.
Ken was proud of his East End roots and learned the value of hard work, loyalty from his family. These values defined him, both on and off the field and was extended in all the ways he would support and forge relationships with his family and friends. Ken, your smile, wit and kindness is unforgettable. You have left your mark and your roar will continue in the heavens above.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe page has been set up https://bit.ly/2vup34D.
A private family service has been observed.

:-?
I wonder if there's going to be at least a pre-game memorial event for him.

I've always wondered if he was ever married and if he had kids of his own. My belief was that he was never married and didn't have any kids, and his obituary now confirms that.

So far, several current and former BC Lions have made generous donations of at least $100: Lui Passaglia, Sean Graham, Jamie Taras, Jason Crumb, Wally Buono, George Chayka, Scott Hendrickson.

Gone from this year's Training Camp but not forgotten. Nice story on the succession from Kato and Kato hired his successor!

Hunter Steward misses an old friend.

“As soon as I walked through the doors and walked by the equipment room, part of my brain wanted to yell at him, talk *poop* to him a little bit,” the sixth-year B.C. Lions’ offensive lineman told KTW at training camp in Kamloops on Monday, speaking of longtime equipment manager Ken (Kato) Kasuya.

“He wasn’t there, but he’s here in spirit. He’s forever a Lion. He’s always in our thoughts and we’re doing all this for him this year. It was very, very sad to hear the news in the off-season.”

In light of the thread about BC Lions uniforms, I've decided to revive this thread in which the late Ken Kasuya is interviewed about the third signature uniforms from the 2013 season.
