Lionbackers.com Hall of Fan - Solar Max
Position: Defensive Tackle
Favourite CFL team: British Columbia Lions
Why are they your favourite team: Fell in love with the Lions back in the Jerry Tagge and the Cardiac Kids days. As Al Wilson says, you always knew that the ball would get to Jim Young to win the game somehow, and that was the hook.
If you were abducted by Super Models and forced to cheer for another team who would it be: Ottawa Renegades. You can take the boy out of Ottawa, but you never take Ottawa out of the boy. Renegade Nation is close to the heart.
Other Favourite Sports teams: Minnesota Vikings (all the great CFL players and coaches that went there) Seattle Seahawks.
Favourite CFL stadium: BC Place
Favourite BC Lion: Jason Clermont
Favourite former BC Lion: Al Wilson ... now a friend.
Favourite Food: Anything a Lionbacker makes at the Tailgate Parties.
Favourite Bar: The Wicket in Victoria, Dix near Our House.
Favourite Beer: O'Douls'
Favourite Alcoholic Beverage: Teetotaler
Favourite Non Alcoholic Bevy: Diet Pepsi
Favourite Tunes: Roar You Lions Roar, Back In Black, Year of The Cat, Stray Cat Strut.
Favourite Movie: Apollo 13, Longest Yard (Joe Kapp version)
Hobbies: Travelling to other CFL cities, meeting other CFL fans, and loving the Canadian Football League with them...but mostly being with the best fans on the Planet, lionbackers, no matter where they are.
Favourite BC Lion Memory: Ned Armour wrestling the ball away from a Hamilton defender and scoring on a Roy DeWalt throw in the first quarter of Grey Cup 1985. Ned, poor guy, couldn't catch cold, but was unbelievable that day. Lui Passaglia, Roy DeWalt, Al Wilson, Nick Hebeler, Rick Klassen, Glen Jackson, Jim Sandusky. Keith Gooch, "Quick" Parker...what a team. Simply Awesome. Watching Al Wilson run off the field with Lord Earl Grey's mug after Commissioner Smith presented it to him in November, 1985. Al Wilson...greatest Lion ... ever.
Best Grey Cup Host City: Vancouver, 2005. We Rock.
My dream vacation is: Teach Tailgating in Edmonton (right Brian and Linda?),exchanging fibs with our Renegade Nation cousins in Ottawa (Glenegade! Lionut!). Tailgating with Ken and Jacky in Calgary (again), greycupgarry, tigger, cossack, redline, Catssuck, Argofans and gang in Toronto and Hamilton, Section W teammates in Montreal, joshing with BBBob and Freak in Winnipeg..Terencius in Regina. We call these people friends. The CFL did this for us on previous vacations.
Favourite CFL uniform: Lions 3rd...followed closely by Ottawa Rough Riders 1970s all black look with red trim... an "R" helmet...and maybe a number 12 on the jersey.
Strangest things seen at game: Nanook (Edmonton mascot) patting OS99 on the head in Edmonton, 9/24/05. Nanook will never know how close he came to being a rug beside a fireplace that day.
Words you live by: Treasure each and every day, for that is just one more day that you might see a Canadian Football League game. Treasure our League, our Game, our Players, but most of all, treasure the Fans that love the Game as you do. Live the CFL through its greatest ambassadors, the Fans. CFL Fellowship forever.
