Agree dressing only two QB’s seems shortsighted. Given the on field carnage last year, it seems foolish.
Not sure who wanted this move to 2. Players or management. I suspect the former.

In this QB driven league the 3 QBs are essential for both injuries and dev't.

One name I'm wondering about who could wind up on BC's radar is Brandon Zylstra. He's been down in the NFL for 2 years but hasn't seen a lot of playing time. He did dress for every Viking game last year but saw very few reps recording only 1 catch. The Vikes waived him at the end of camp this year and Carolina picked him up. He's only played 4 games with the Panthers recording 1 kick return. He also fumbled on that return although they recovered. It could be one year too early to give up on the NFL but if Carolina doesn't have him in their plans he could consider coming back north.

The QB position is evolving in the CFL and NFL. It doesn’t make sense to dress three prototypical pocket passers and have two of them stand on the sidelines until injuries occur. I’d love to have a versatile athletic third QB who can be counted as a national or international and play special teams, RB or receiver in addition to QB.
Works for me. I think of Peter Muller, Wayne Allison, Bob Cameron, Brad Sinopoli and others who played QB in Canadian universities but made the CFL in other positions. Others never got the chance (Jamie Bone, David Amer). If Bridge can make it as a QB, those guys certainly could have.

Bridge probably has a best chance of lengthening his career as a special teams player, receiver , emergency QB who takes over if QB 1&2 get injured in the same game.

Doesn't "Played for Edmonton" pre qualify a player to become a BC Lion? Or is it only Esk's rejects the pre qualify?

The Lions have signed national RB Andrew Pocrnic, another Langley Rams phenom who set a Canadian Junior Football record with 27 TDs in 2019. He joins last year's Ram phenom Jevon Cottoy as a territorial signing, although neither is a B.C. native.

Not counting fullbacks David Mackie and Mario Villamizar, Pocrnic is the fifth running back under contract for 2020, joining fellow nationals Jamel Lyles and Wayne Moore and Americans John White and Brandon Rutley.

The Lions have signed another rookie prospect at defensive end, according to cfl.ca and the agent for Eric Assoua. Assoua, 6 ft. 2, 240 lbs., played EDGE rusher at Western Michigan from 2015 to 2018, recording 10.5 sacks in his college career. He was invited to Oakland Raiders minicamp in 2019 as an undrafted free agent. Here is his career highlights video:

This is bizarre. The Lions have signed DB Keon Lyn, who had a solid training camp at cornerback last year before being thrown into the safety position. After a disastrous season opener in which he looked lost and was benched at halftime, he was demoted to the practice roster and cut a month later. It was one of the most blatant cases of personnel mismanagement by the 2019 coaching staff.

The Lions also added three other Americans, according to Matt Baker.
The BC Lions Football Club has signed veteran defensive back Keon Lyn plus added Americans Taylor Hawkins (DB), Stefan Flintoft (P) and John Jiles (WR) to the roster.

Lyn- returns to the Lions after attending 2019 training camp with the club and spending part of last season on the practice roster. The Miami, Florida native suited up for one game with the Lions in 2018 and appeared in two contests with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2017 season where he recorded two defensive tackles and a forced fumble. Lyn played his college career at Syracuse from 2010-14 before a stint at New York Jets training camp.

Hawkins- the native of Covington, Georgia spent 2019 with the Omaha Beef of Champions Indoor Football (CIF) where he recorded 51 total tackles, five interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 12 games. He previously played at Reinhardt University from 2014-18.

Flintoft- attended 2019 mini-camp with the Denver Broncos following a successful college career at UCLA from 2014-18. Flintoft’s career average of 43.68 yards per punt is the third highest in Bruins program history. His senior season of 2018 brought Honourable Mention Pac-12 selection by his coaches as well as Pac-12 Academic honours.

Jiles- comes to the Lions after attending Fort Scott Community College for two years. In nine games with the Greyhounds, Jiles caught 37 passes for 600 yards and six touchdowns.

BC Fan - let's hope the GM knows something fans don't here. Maybe Keon Lyn will be TC fodder or come back knowing his role better.

That's great news, and a big surprise. According to the CFL transaction wire, Newsome was released in December but his name was never deleted from the Lions' roster. I don't know if he can be an every-down player but he's only 28 and at this point he's the best pass rusher under contract.

Maybe for Lyn last year was a case of trying to find a spot at safety because there wasn't another spot available that was a better fit for him. With Peters. Lee and Grymes boundary corner and both halfback spots were locked up leaving only field corner and safety open. FCB I think has a lot more in common with S in terms of responsibility and cover. If S is like playing CF in baseball then FCB is like playing RF for a right handed batter and he hits to the opposite field. You can be out there by yourself covering a lot of real estate. With only Lee under contract for next year maybe there will be better opportunity for Lyn to compete for a position he's more suited to.

According to the Langley Rams, receiver Jesse Walker has signed with the Lions. Walker, a 6-2, 195-lb. former Manitoba Bison from Mission, played with the Rams after he was cut by the Lions in training camp last year. He would be the third former Ram on the team, joining second-year receiver Jevon Cottoy and rookie running back Andrew Pocrnic. Walker and Pocrnic are both 22. Cottoy is 23.
