The blame for this one lies mostly with the offence, though. The offensive line was overmatched but that was only part of the story. The Lions knew exactly what the Eskimos were doing but they didn’t do anythig to counter it. Mike Reilly continued to hold the ball on the pocket, waiting for receivers to get open downfield on slow-developing routes. On one sack the Lions sent three receivers downfield 40 yards on go routes. Many QBs are hard to sack because they get he ball out quickly. The Lions continue to sit in the pocket and wait for the inevitable chaos to unfold. Blame the coaches for the game planning. Blame the offensive line for losing physical battles and not picking up stunts. Blame the receivers for not making adjustments and helping the QB. Blame the QB for continuing to stand in the pocket and expect a different result. They all share in this one.

I think BC receivers aren't making route adjustments as they're being evaluated on not showing until the last moment and it's not freaking working.

Suitor froze one passing play and the deep receivers were not turned and only the short crossing REC was open as Reilly was under pressure.

Why would the OC and the QB keep calling the same freaking drop back passes when the OLINE is under pressure?

Let the OL find success with a run game and blocking scheme help and not just send everyone as it's not working.

Exactly. I watched Reilly and his receivers most of the night. Sacks were inevitable, not just due to poor pass pro by the O-line but to the slow-developing passing scheme. Reilly stood in the pocket most of the night while most receivers ran deep or intermediate routes. The few quick throws that Reilly made appeared to be designed screens at the line of scrimmage that were well defended by the Esks. There were few hot routes, checkdowns or dump-offs,. The most successful screen pass of the night was called back by an unnecessary roughness penalty that took the Lions out of scoring range. Cottoy is still mainly being used as a blocker in blitz pickup (he's good at it) or to run clearing routes for other receivers. He often does not look back to the QB, even when there is no defender around him.
