I watched the Riders - Ticats game til tip off then came back post NBA game to finish it up.

Ticat players taking Collaros out early - 3rd play plus at least two more head shots, piling on the guy out of bounds - all in the first 17 minutes sent a message to teams in the CFL. Keep your heads up when you play the Ticats.

Simoni Lawrence post game saying he couldn't prevent the hit as he thought Collaros was doing something was total BS. As the panel all said, no matter the upgraded penalty it does nothing for the player whose career might be over.

That hit bordered on the criminal.

Great credit to the Riders D that they didn't head hunt Ticats - not that they got to Masoli much.

Without William Powell the Riders might have been done by more as his runs kept the Ticats O off the field.

Lawrence was almost in tears after, interviewed. But it was crocodile tears, imo. He knows he is in deep trouble. Some say it merits a lifetime suspension. His near tears were real, but imo they were because he sees the danger to his own career.

Collaros got into the slide early. Lawrence had ample time to adjust his body, as a pro athlete. Roll the shoulders away, keep the helmet away. He could probably have avoided any contact whatsoever.

It is all on film. It looked like he put both his helmet and shoulder in there to get contact with Collaros' head.

An old dog, etc. He could not stop his instinctive reaction. He plays with a predator's instincts. (His coaches should have been proactive, coaching Lawrence away from such hits. Maybe they were. Don't know. But his tendencies are well known.)

Just imo ... Others might see it differently and defend Lawrence.

Lawrence looked to be targeting Collaros and it should have got Lawrence kicked out of the game.

Ambrosie needs to hand out some very severe punishment to Lawrence without even considering limitations of the CBA. The CFL needs to push the envelope a bit and see if the CFLPA really has a desire to protect Lawrence or protect QBs from future targeted hits.

I just went to the CFL home page and then sent them a email insisting on a multi-game suspension for Lawrence for his head hunting hit on Collaros. As fans, we need to demand appropriate discipline and not the usual wrist slap.

Dano - Fans need to step up and do what you're doing.

I posted my comments like many others on that page. MOST comments are supportive of more action against Lawrence.

TSN Panel... Burris mentions how Simoni Lawrence targeted his bad knee right after he hurt it. He's never forgiven the guy for that. He says it's a pattern.

Right after that hit Devlin Breaux hit a Receiver in the head.

I recall when Buck was in similar concussions how IIRC the team the Bombers were playing (might have been a Chris Jones team) were blitzing him to take him out. That's just plain wrong.

Football is a tough enough game that you don't need to play dirty.

Farhan says the CFL realizes it should have been an ejection and there will be a hearing.

https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video

Command upgraded to a 25 yarder but apparently it doesn't come with the ejection that the 25 yard roughing call has.

WEAK excuse for not getting it right.

If the PA defends Lawrence then it's open season and let the head shots continue - as a 25 yard penalty that puts a starting QB out of the game is worth it as we saw with the Ticats last night.

The PA best give this some serious thought if they are to have any credibility.

I was in the IWA where this sawyer was so dangerous that after it led to an accident the union (IWA) refused to support the person. IF they had the mill workers would have revolted as this guy had tons of seniority but no acumen for running something this dangerous to others. He ran the head rig into the back of the huge band saw and it broke and wrapped around the tail sawyer like a metal ribbon. I spoke to the millwright who had to cut the saw off the guy who had just badly bruised rights and not back cuts to his arm and he couldn't understand how it didn't cut this guy in half. Moral of the story: Union wouldn't support that and neither did the shift workers or foreman/supts.

Als concede safety 18-8. Quarterback Antonio Pipkin totally ineffective. Could be a long season for Khari Jones

Montreal is being outcoached on offence and defence. Four Edmonton turnovers are keeping the score respectable.
