Absolutely true that good coaches can be in situations not favourable given the talent. My sense with the Ticats is that their HC has ensured that the DEF schemes are what will work with their talent.

Khari Jones is looking good - so far - in bringing his Als to some semblance of credibility and confidence.

I posted a number of times that Jennings' decision to work on on his off season confidence was wrong following his sophomore year where the deep balls were no longer going for long gains and TDs as the prior year when he was shooting the lights out. I likened his situation to how Bo Levi Mitchell took the Dave Dickenson suggestion to go work with Jeff Garcia (costly as he paid it himself) and BLM came back and win the Starter job over Drew Tate now coaching QBs in BC.

Jennings and Franklin are two QBs who I think don't get the issues they need to focus on and they need a QB coach to make them effective. It is funny how Khari Jones has get Vernon Adams focused and their entire team when we all trashed him as OC here in BC. Jones also said post Wally he wasn't allowed to run some plays - likely the creative ones.

Good for Khari. Happy for him. He is showing more leadership, skill with Xs and Os and coaching ability, than we saw here. He seems to be helping Vernon Adams a lot.

Good for Mark Washington. Happy for him also. Good guy. Seems to be working well with Steinauer, who has his own background as a successful DC.

Sad to see the state of Jonathon Jennings. He seemed to blossom under Tedford and Cortez here. And that lasted for a while. He passed for over 5,000 yards that one year, and was chosen as starter. He was mobile as well, and was seen by the media as a rising star in the league. And then it all fell apart.

Both Jennings and Lulay struggled mightily last year in Jarious' offence. Reilly has put up good passing yardage this year, but the beatings from poor pass protection cannot go on without something giving way.

In the marque game this week, Hamilton leading Winnipeg 14-0 in the first quarter. Big news is that Jeremiah Masoli was injured on what appeared to be seemingly innocent play.

Bombers capitalize on a Hamilton interception and march 106 yards for a touchdown to narrow the score 14-7

17-9 at the half. Masoli out for the game. On the sideline sporting a brace on his left leg.

As a CFL fan, I have tended to think Matt Nichols was not All-Star level. He has done very well playing in LaPolice'e offence (129 rating). Not looking good vs Hamilton. Three interceptions. Bad overthrow for the last.

Winston Rose looking good. Not good enough for us?

Even Mark Washington doing a better job now that he's an ex-Lion. Hmm?

Winnipeg no longer an unbeaten team following tonight's 23-15. Six turnovers did the Bombers in.

I just heard that Hamilton QB Jeremiah Masoli suffered a torn ACL in Friday's game and will miss the rest of the season. That will greatly hurt the Ticats' chances to make it to the Grey Cup.

Omigod, what a tough, tough break for Masoli and the Ticats. I guess that means that the next man up is this kid Dane Evans, who came in last night. He looked average at best last night, but he hadn't had the reps through the week, so could be OK going forward. In 5 games with the Ticats, going back to last year, he has been a 60% passer with 3 TDs and 3 Ints. Seems less mobile than Masoli.

Bombers dominating the hapless Argos 20-0 with 3 minutes remaining in the first half. How much longer before Cory Chamblin gets fired ?

20-10 at the half.... a reprieve for Cory??? We shall see if the Bombers ramp it up in the second half.... seems like Bombers have been taking the Argos lightly. Harris is having a strong game, but that's about all for them. The vaunted Bomber defence seems to be in slow motion with the rush being picked up by the Argos, at least to this point.

Argos penalties likely adding to their woes...
