Ugly.

Embarrassment.

Out-coached.

Inadequate game plans.

Blame the players? Sure. They could not execute the game plans, such as they were, to victory.

Sad way for Wally Buono to go out. But it was more than time. He became a dinosaur.

Much to say in retrospect of this game, and of his career. His career had much success.

Let's not make the mistake of dumping everything on the coaches like I know some people here love doing. The coaches failed. The players failed. It was a failure all around. This has become a trend with the Lions in the playoffs over the last 6 years or so. They get blown out in the playoffs very often and it's inexcusable. The game plan was bad. The players weren't ready to play. A failure all around.

Good news is there will be changes next year.

Some stats.

Nice numbers for Jennings. Looking for something good to say.

Game went exactly the way I thought it would. Elite QB & scheme vs struggling QB and pedestrian offence. Throw in a typical Mark Washington defence in the playoffs and it all adds up to a total ass kicking.

Bring on a new era and a much needed winning culture.

As others have said in this thread and the game thread, the Lions were not ready to play. The Ticats had better game plans on offence and defence, and they executed them with confidence. The Lions were uptight, they took penalties and turned the ball over all day. It’s an all-to-familiar pattern.

A new era begins this offseason. Six months to training camp. I’m starting my countdown.

If there is a story line here, it might have been something that didn't happen early on -----
Change the Lions QB earlier to get that different look in the game when the game was actually still on.

Chris Jones' Rider made the East Final last season with Kevin Glenn being hooked when the Riders OLine couldn't protect him and he did based on Glenn's age and not risking his injury. That 's on the HC as he needs to make that call but Wally said at the half - it wasn't Travis. While he's right he still should have said Change QBs and see if we can move the ball.

BC outscored by 136 points in 7 playoff games since 2011. And that includes our one and only playoff win during that period.

Not much to say other than Lions did not show up. Was painful to watch.

The biggest change this off season needs to be a new owner. Braley's team's value is continuing to plummet. He needs to go too and sell the team. Team needs new faces starting at the top. Entire coaching staff needs to be fired. None deserve to be back.

Lots of different Leo players in the playoffs over the past 6 years and same result -blowouts.

The common demoninators are Buono and Washington and Buono selected coaches.

There has to be a reason why time and again, no matter what player changes we make, season after season, the result is still the same in the playoffs for a long time now,.

Player recruitment hasn't been very good since Bob O'Billovich and Roy Shivers left. These aren't the same talented teams that Buono used to have back in the Calgary days and his first stint with the Lions.

BC teams coached by Benevides and Tedford got blown out, in addition to Buono. I think it's very important to separate the coaches because they aren't all Buono. This whole regime has been a failure since 2012.

Mark Washington, our defensive coordinator since 2014, has not had our defence ready to play in the playoffs from that season to this season and every playoff game in between.

Lets look at that record, which is embarrassing or should be.

2014 -gave up 50 points to Montreal.
2015- 35 points to Calgary
2016- 31 points to Winnipeg (including 25 first half points)
2016 - 42 points to Calgary, including 32 first half points and 334 yds of offence
2017 - missed playoffs
2018 - gave up 48 points to Hamilton, including 28 first half points.

How this guy is even in a conversation for a future Head Coach is beyond me. His name should not even be mentioned.
