They are playing around with Boden right now due to his territorial status...more to be determined.

So for a look at the 42 Man Roster contest as of today: Non-Imports

18. Knowlton
19. Smith

Since the Boden situation has not been resolved we'll still have to wait for the final announcement for the game against Toronto.. but B.C. Fan....I'm catching up since Hannah nor McCullough will make the active roster....it's looking like a sprint to the finish for us..big guy!!

Looks like our Leos will move Simmons to wideside outside receiver and put Rodgers into the slot. Not the way I like it...I loved having two big guys with great speed and also size in Simon and Simmons at slot. I wish they would have moved Rodgers outside. Simmons will see less footballs out wide.

Oh well...you can't have everything...at least they went with 3 import receivers and also moved Washington to nickel and Phillips to wideside halfback..so more off-season wishes are coming true than not! It also may not be a permanent move to have Simmons out wide...we'll have to wait and see.
You've missed Tony Simmons again........and they won't carry 8 import DB's on the active roster, so IMO, Knowlton or Mitchell would need to move to the Reserve or PR.

You've also forgotten about Bret Anderson who rejoined the team saturday.......which means Nicolson or Sadeghian moving to the Reserve or PR..........and even if one moves the other may follow if the Lions are forced to declare Boden.

All so true ShiZiMi. How can I keep not putting one of my two favorite offensive players on there...it's worrisome! :sigh: I'm going to self-impose no more posts for me at 6 a.m. I haven't forgotten about Bret Anderson. However, I don't believe they will declare him active for the Toronto game but Anderson has been put on the active roster quickly in the past. If our Leos have to declare Boden they'll have to take someone else off the active roster for Toronto...I'm still waiting for the decision.

I did note that the roster was only for today and we would have to wait until the Leos decleared their active roster against Toronto later this week. At that point they will have to make a decision as to whether Marsh is ready to play. If he is, then it will be Mitchell or Knowlton who has to come off.

Thanks for the correction...now I have to run another gasser!! :x :x

I am very worried about you Blitz, i considered you my lionbacker mentor but you may be losing it a bit??!!  How many more years is Anderson going to do the unretirement bit? I have no problem with it as he is a valuable player to have but does it become a problem to manage the roster at times?
Thank you for everything you did for OUR Lions Mr.Ackles, we will never forget you...RIP

Actually Bret Anderson's addition makes the roster easier to manage as he returns to the roster each year, well as long as he is up to his own standards. His multiple position ability with little drop off is huge security in todays CFL.

I did my punishment today in the rain, hail, lightning, thunder and just about everything else that fell from the sky. Is it summer yet?

Even after the Edmonton debacle I thought Jones would have been safe.

To me he was a young receiver that caught everything thrown his way last season and seemed to be really coming into his own right through to the Grey Cup game.
But as you pointed out Blitz... his bar at training camp was higher than others.

If everything was based on the pre-season then Pierce would be starting Thursday, not Dickenson who was dreadful in Edmonton.

To release Jones and move Simmons outside (at least temporarily), Rodgers better be DAMN good to justify it. And there also better be a significant gap between what he and Boden can bring to the offence.

Given he is indirectly replacing Thelwell and Clermont's potential departure in ’08, I would rather see a young Canadian brought along this season as a 4th or 5th option.

You represent everything that Lionbackers is about Sammy...sacrifice for the team concept!

You know what Wally is like with second year players! He wants to see improvement. Not sure why Jones had the droppsies at camp and while others did he was the last guy who could afford to have them. I also think Wally was looking for some changes and Rodgers special teams work was a factor. The Leos will also look to insert Boden in certain situations and also see how Nicholson develops. It's possible, next season, that Boden could be starting at wideside widout and Nicholson playing slot if Clermont leaves. It will depend on their development whether we need to go with three import receivers or not next season. Of course Anderson can play any receiver spot in a depth situation.

The one thing that has always been an illusion is Wally saying that players can compete for the starting quarterback position. He said that prior to 2005 and Printers knew better. Pearce wanted to compete for the starters position at training camp and believed in the chance but the reality is that the job is a forgone conclusion. Nothing wrong with that! It's good to have a declared starter and Dickenson should be the declared starter. However, it's important to always make that understood, when that is the case, rather than get any hopes up and possibly set up disappointment.

We spent a lot of time developing Jones last season so fans expectations that Rodgers makes a very positive contribution are reasonable. He is a rookie but he will need to step in and show he has the goods. Certainly an NFL fourth rounder has been scouted enough...so we know he has talent but so did Kendrick. It's what gets done on the field that counts!

I was out of the country for most of training and only got back just as pre-season started. What happened to Colon? Did he quit, get cut?

With regard to Anderson...it's not a problem for the Leos but it is a problem for the non-import that Anderson replaces when he 'unretires' each season! The amazing thing about Anderson is that he doesn't drop balls, no matter how little he's practiced, can pick up the offence and any receiver position in such little time, and he is very versataile. I like him being our kickoff specialist!

Anderson is an excellent athlete! Of course he gets the gears for missing training camp each season and the two a day grind...they wish they were all so lucky...and then jumps on the active roster quickly...but no matter how good the non-imports are each season....someone has to come down off the active roster to the practice roster because the coaching staff want Anderson in there!

Like most of us here, I am an Anderson fan.

It goes back to his high school days. He was maybe even better at basketball than football.

He was the Most Valuable Player when his team won the BC basketball championship in his grade 12 year.

I saw every one of his games that tournament. In the final game he was phenomenal. It was a tight, tough game, back and forth. With a few seconds, left his team trailed. His coaches were going crazy, screaming on the bench. Anderson signalled them to calm down. It was so funny ... player calming the coaches down.

Of course, he calmly drives into the key and scores to take the lead. They win.

Like a few very special athletes, he is just a winner through and through ... pressure does not affect his play. Like a Montana or, closer to home, Lui Passaglia.

I am very glad he is on the team. Kudos to Wally for finding a way to make that happen. Bret brings good kharma wherever he goes.

Great post. Anderson was named Basketball B.C.'s male athlete of the year in 1993 for leading Terry Fox Secondary to the provincial championship. The previous year's award went to Steve Nash. That's not a bad act to follow.

but a tough one.

IIRC he has a pretty good vertical in his day, at 38", not bad for a white guy.

The question, now, is who is going to the development roster (new fangled name for PR) when Anderson finally makes it to the active roster?

Currently, at bclions.com, the 46 man roster is full and the development roster contains 6 players..........but BA is yet to be listed...........so the one remaining DR spot will go to a NI player currently on the 46 man roster.

Any guesses who that will be?

I was just there and I only count 45 on the 46 roster which INCLUDES Bret Anderson. The DR has 6 on it.

Someone wanna double check my counting.

Boden and Farrow have both been removed........and BA has been added.

My guess is Farrow has been released and will go on the DR after 48hrs......not sure where Boden is, but I guess it's possible he is still eligible for "territorial protection" status as he was last year, and therefore does not need to be accounted for on any list.
