What's with the rather glaring misspelling on the 1964 Championship Ring? (I believe these were issued to surviving team members in 2006)

The 1964 Grey Cup ring that I posted is actually a fan replica. The original ring has diamonds surrounding the black rectangle base and Lion logo and while it's unclear, I'm sure at 7:38 the spelling of BC LIONS on the ring is correct:
