lions breakout player in 2007
Moderator: Team Captains
just wondering who will be the leos breakout player for 2007? i am thinking paris jackson coming off a great playoff run or joe smith playing a full season. i guess with wilson going to the nfl it could be a new defensive lineman as well?
Thank you for everything you did for OUR Lions Mr.Ackles, we will never forget you...RIP
Lets hope that we find a DE that can compliment the rest of that terrific line. Paris has shown his wares, so unless he gets Simon like numbers I would not consider him in a breakout season. Jamal Johnson is going to be another one to watch, as he is replacing Carl the Kidd.
Entertainment value = an all time low

It would be great if:
A) Simmons is healthy enough to return to the lineup
B) Wally gives Simmons a chance to return to the lineup
C) Simmons stays healthy while in the lineup.

Rick Foley if he gets a chance to compete for a DE spot - real long-shot though and i wouldn't bet on him getting much playing time on the D, but he might be a force at DE in the CFL.

Joe Smith - A full season of his ground and pound will certainly ease the pressure put on DD and BP.
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008
D) Simmons tears up the league while healthy in the lineup.Bosco wrote:I hear ya!Lionheart wrote:I say Tony Simmons

I'd love to see Boden crack the starting lineup and have an impact but how realistic is that at age 20 and with no college or pro experience? Gilles Colon, Kendrick Jones and/or Tony Simmons all are considerably older and have CFL experience, and Mike Lindstrom is six years older and was UBC's top receiver before being drafted by the Lions last year and spending the season on the practice roster with Boden.
Boden looked to be the best of the rookie receivers at training camp last year and he showed well in preseason but I haven't seen him since. Is he ready?

We'll start finding out in a few months. If he cracks the active roster I expect him to be a backup and special teams player.
