Following siut with the league giving out weekly awards in the first two rounds of the playoffs, you would think that this is required for Nov.

In this article from a newspaper in his home town in Montana, Dave Dickenson admitted he didn't play a spectacular game. Therefore, I'm sure he was also very surprised that he was chosen as the MVP.

Here is a statistical comparison of Dave Dickenson's 2006 Grey Cup performance vs. Damon Allen's 2000 Grey Cup performance:

DICKENSON: Passing: 18-29 for 184 yards, 0 INT, 0 TD; Rushing: 6-53, 0 TD, 1 Fumble.

ALLEN: Passing: 18-31 for 234 yards, 0 INT, 0 TD; Rushing: 9-39, 2 TD's, 0 Fumbles.

So it looks like Allen had a slight edge in passing yards, while Dickenson rushed for 14 more yards, but Allen also had two rushing TD's. That said, Dickenson was selected as Grey Cup MVP while Allen was not. That may be understandable since nobody clearly outshined Dickenson except for maybe McCallum. While in the 2000 Grey Cup, Robert Drummond was clearly worthy of MVP honours with his 10 rushes for 122 yards and 1 TD, as well as 3 receptions for 41 yards.

Just like eight CFL individual player awards, the two CFL game award trophies also take the same, generic form. When I find a picture of it, I will post it. It shows two hands emerging and holding a small football. Personally, I'm not too crazy about the design. Because showing two small hands emerging out of something is sort of like a scene from a horror movie!
I was finally able to find some pictures of Dickenson's Grey Cup MVP trophy, taken by Rik Fedyck.
