I'll take you up on that offer with a history lesson instead. This is what I found on certain teams that don't have cheerleaders.

Chicago Bears
They had cheerleaders called the Honey Bears from 1977 to 1985, until new owner Virginia McCaskey discontinued them. Perhaps it had something to do with a woman owner's views on women being exploited.

Pittsburgh Steelers
The team actually had the NFL's first cheerleaders called the Steelerettes from 1961 to 1969. According to their alumni site, the program lost interest after 1969.

Green Bay Packers
From their web site:

The Green Bay Packers once had official cheerleaders, but after the 1988 season the decision was made not to reinstate them. While some Packers fans supported the official cheerleaders, many were opposed or indifferent, at best. Helping the Packers make the decision to discontinue the program was a television news poll in which fans were generally split over whether they wanted the program to continue. Then the Packers' executive vice president of administration, Bob Harlan was quoted in an official release Feb. 7, 1989, saying: "In general terms, the poll disclosed there were as many fans who expressed opposition to the return of the cheerleaders as there were those in favor of restoring them. On that basis, we felt the appropriate decision at this time would be to continue without them." Harlan says there are no plans to return to official cheerleaders. For several years, the team has used cheering squads from two local schools, St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Compared to other stadiums, though, they are not as much a part of the gameday experience at Lambeau Field.

New York Giants
From their FAQ page:

The Giants do not have a cheerleading squad. We have always felt that the game should be the focus of the day of game presentation.

New York Jets
Instead of cheerleaders, they have what they call Flight Crews. Essentially the same thing, except the women run around with flags.

Detroit Lions
From this article:

Why don't the Lions have professional cheerleaders? When I called the Detroit Lions management office and asked this probing question, their director of communications said: "We have had groups of high school cheerleaders come into the stadium in past years, but we have never had any professional cheerleaders. It's just a decision that's been in place since I've been here," in effect, not answering my question.

Cleveland Browns
They were the only team that I couldn't find any information on why they didn't have cheerleaders.

You'll have to use your imagination.

A group of lap dancers in cheerleader outfits on the sideline expressing themselves to the Donna Summer tune Bad Girls.

Reviving this old thread in light of the fact that one of the NFL teams that previously didn't have cheerleaders now do:

More likely, anything like this should be copied to all teams as it affects the. When they are on the road. Simple answer.

Using this thread as I think the topic is similar, this Philadelphia 76ers woman basketball fan has screamed bloody discrimination over her attire as she attempted to enter the Wells Fargo Center stadium. She was detained by security because she wore stockings, a leotard, and a leather jacket to the team’s home opener and was told to cover up.

However, she immediately protested on social media and is considering legal action and is demanding an apology. She claims that it's straight discrimination as she argues that what she wore was no different from what 76ers cheerleaders were wearing.

“The same thing, a leotard and some pantyhose. What’s the problem? If a celebrity can do it, if the Sixers dancers can do it, why not just the regular fan?”

I wonder if such a thing could occur if at BC Place if a woman dressed like that for a Lions game, and if stopped then will argue that it's not different than how the Felions dress.

So, she got into legal trouble because she basically wore a Playboy bunny girl outfit with a leather jacket?
Was it because there's an actual law against wearing such revealing clothes (although I agree that it isn't "worse" than what cheerleaders wear) or because she wasn't to the security guys' taste? :rotf:
