Detailed information about the win can be found at:

Here are two good pictures of the post-game celebration. Thanks Whitecaps Women for giving the city of Vancouver its second championship this year (after the Vancouver Giants of the WHL). This sure brings back memories of the four CSL championships that the 86ers won from 1988-1991, and even the Whitecaps 1979 Soccer Bowl championship.

Although it wasn't to main article on the front page of the Province Sports section, it's good to see that the championship was mentioned in both the Province and the Sun.

The Whitecaps men finally managed to beat their biggest rivals, the Seattle Sounders, last night by a score of 3-2. The Sounders are in danger of missing the playoffs.

Any thoughts or predictions on the Whitecaps men as they head into the playoffs?

The Whitecaps men ended off their 2006 regular season the same way they started it - with a win. They beat the Atlanta Silverbacks 1-0 in the regular season finale on fan appreciation night at Swangard Stadium. Were any of you there?

The Whitecaps now head into the playoffs with a home-and-home series against the Miami FC. Game 1 will be at Swangard Stadium on Friday evening, September 15 starting at 7:00 PM. Who will be there to cheer on the Whitecaps?

Game 2 will be in Miami on Sunday, September 17 at 2:00 PM.

It looks like I'm the one who has been doing most of the posting on this thread. Don't any of you care about your local soccer club? :?

Well since you asked...not really.

Congratulations to the four Whitecaps named to the USL All-Star teams. Forward Joey Gjertsen and defender Geordie Lyall were named to the All-League First Team and midfielder Jeff Clarke and defender/midfielder Steve Klein were selected to the All-League Second Team.

Did anybody see the Vancouver Whitecaps tonight in game 1 of their two game total-goal series against Miami FC, either at Swangard Stadium or on SHAW TV?

The Whitecaps really dominated the first half, scoring three goals and taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. Miami got one back in the 64th minute on a free kick, but the Whitecaps restored their 3-goal cushion on a header off a corner kick late in the game to take game 1 by a score of 4-1.

With a three goal lead, the Whitecaps are in very good shape heading into game 2 Sunday in Miami.

I was at the game last night, what a difference between this years playoffs and last years.
Last season Lilley didn't play much of an attacking style and it showed they didn't get many chances on net which we were all affraid of when Lilley came on board because that was his forte in Montreal. This year they are attacking way more.
I expect the Caps to go through to the next round and that would be Montreal here on Fri. night.

An excellent performance by the Whitecaps in game 2 of their series in Miami to win 2-0 and take the series with an aggregate win of 6-1. Now, on to face the Montreal Impact starting on Friday!

Nice meeting you to Robbie

Whitecaps are playing great soccer right now, unfortunately they lost Alberts who has had a good season, but the bench is fairly deep so I think they can over come this obstacle.

Historically the games vs. Mont. are low scoring and they have an excellent goalkeeper, believe his name is Greg Sutton, and he plays for the national team so it won't be easy, but the Caps will win!

For those who can't make it, the game is televised on Shaw.

The Whitecaps had to settle for a 0-0 scoreless draw against Montreal in their first game of their semi-final round. Now, it all depends on the results of the second game on Sunday in Montreal. The Whitecaps haven't reached the championship game in their league since 1992. The Whitecaps seemed to be cursed to lose in the semi-final round like they have so many times in the last three decades. Let's hope this won't be one of those cursed years again. :cr:

Do they use UEFA's away goals rule or are all goals evenly weighted?
