Norway has a new national hero. Few will not know the name Thomas Waerner. Full value for the win as well in running an incredible race. 9 days 10 hrs was the winning time. Red latern was awarded just shy of 14 days. Congratulations and respect to all those that participated. It's not an easy thing.

Somewhere around 800,000 dog miles in total for the Iditarod. Doubling the mileage for time spent training without any dogs being lost seems like more than reasonable ethical treatment and care.

PETA would do well to recognize and applaud / promote the ethical treatment of animals such as happens in mushing competitions. Follow along and learn the facts before judging.

Meanwhile 100,000 or more chickens are beheaded daily. Sadly no cameras for PETA to get involved.

60 yr old Mitch Seavey finished second. Kind of incredible on its own.
