Another year, another NHL season has just started. With both the :bc: and Whitecaps having :puke: seasons, I guess we must  for a even half decent ;canucks: season ahead.

Canucks opened the floodgates on offence last night for their home opener with an 8-2 win over LA. The game was significant for being a recreation of their original home opener on Oct 9, 1970 also versus LA (which ended as a 3-1 loss). On the telecast, they showed a split screen of center ice for both games. With Bo Horvat being named team captain, they also had several alumni skate out during player introductions in their respective period unis and full gear (a novel twist).

This also reminds me a game in November 12, 1991 in which the Canucks won with the same 8-2 score over the Kings and Pavel Bure had a huge performance shortly after joining the team.

After a pair of losses in Alberta to start off the seasons, the ;canucks: pull off four straight wins including a hard working come from behind win against the defending champions in St. Louis. If they continue with these hard efforts, a good season can be expected.

With both the Lions and Whitecaps season over, how about the Canucks? Decent start so far for the team. Hopefully, there won't be any serious injuries and if they can maintain their momentum, they would be serious contenders.

The Canucks have already adopted the original green and blue uniforms and as an alternate they sometimes wear the original hockey stick logo. And as an alternate, they sometimes wear the black, orange, and yellow uniforms with the second Canucks logo for this season.

That said, will the Canucks dare take it one step further and recognize their history by also wearing uniforms from the late 1970's to the late 1980's in which the home uniform was predominantly yellow with either the V (actually meaning Victory) or Canucks logo in front? They actually wore the flying V in warm-ups, but not in the actual game.

I would choose for them to make some combination of yellow, black and orange as their regular uniform.

The (new this year) blue alternates are a simplified version of the original 70's uni (which I would rather they had done instead.)

I like the black skate version (and the white skate as well) from the '94 cup run. Vegas now has that look, so that ship has sailed.

Just watching a rerun of a WJHC game Canada vs US. Must be circa-2006 give or take a year. Luc Bourdon wired home a one timer slapshot for a PP goal to tie it in the 3rd. It got me to wondering what his impact might have been for the Canucks and the NHL if not for that fatal accident. He was just showing signs of figuring it all out in his final season. I think he was poised to be that stud #1 defenseman the Canucks always dreamt of.

Canucks are finishing up 2019 with a 5-game winning streak.
May that momentum continue on to 2020. :cr:

Team Canada has just won the 2019 Spengler Cup, their 4th in 5 years, and their 16th overall.

Something to feel excited about? :juggle:

7-game winning streak for the Canucks now after a win over the Rangers, all while wearing the uniforms for the '94 finals. :beauty:

Congratulations to ;canucks: Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, and Jacob Markstrom in a come-from-behind win for Team Pacific.

It looks like early voting screwed the MVP selection (again) as it was given to David Pastrnak in Team Atlantic despite Tomas Hertl or Leon Draisaitl should have won. Did you vote in the MVP? Early voting even left Hertl out from the four nominations despite is 5-goal performance.

Florida Panthers retire Roberto Luongo's #1 jersey.

Should the Canucks follow suit?
Hmmm......he allowed crucial three goals in the biggest game of his life.
