As cold as it sounds, when tragic events like this happen, life goes on. Every circumstance is different but generally I fall in the camp of carry on as normal. A game like the one the Leaf's had lightened a lot of heavy hearts that night. It tells everybody that despite the world going to hell in a hand basket, that those events won't stop us from being who we are. Unless there is some kind of perceived threat to congregating groups, don't let the horrendous actions of an individual stop us from being us.
Aside from severe inclement weather issues or natural disasters, do you recall any moments in which a scheduled sports event in Canada was postponed or delayed? The only example that I can recall was 9/11.

But in America, there have been notable times in American cities in which scheduled sporting events had to be cancelled - mostly in the form of civil unrest in the form of race riots. Despite neighbours, a great aspect of Canada over the USA in that racial tension in Canada have always been minimal and limited and never escalated to the form of huge race riots like in the USA.

Disgusting performance by that rat Brad Marchand. He licked the face of Ryan Callahan during a scrum. Not the first time he did it in this year's playoffs. He did the same to Komarov. League didn't do anything. Maybe they will this time.

Glad to see the league finally did something about Marchand (and that TBL have sent them golfing anyway). Reminds me of Sean Avery back in 2008.

League should have suspended him the first time he did it to Komarov.

Winnipeg Jets advance to the Western Conference final and will face the Las Vegas Knights starting Saturday. 2 weak goals surrendered by Rinne proved to be the difference.

Tampa Bay came from behind to defeat Washington 4-2, tying the series at 2. Visiting teams have won all the games in the series so far.

Las Vegas one game away from advancing to the Stanley Cup following a 3-2 win in game 4

Las Vegas becomes the first expansion team to play for the Stanley Cup in their first year of existence by defeating the Jets 2-1. Jets can't capitalize on 4 power play opportunities and that was their downfall.

Winning the conference championship as an expansion team is a huge achievement and accomplishment in itself and as such, there shouldn't be any shame or stigma in hoisting their Campbell Bowl to celebrate this and furthermore, last year's champion Penguins also hoisted their conference trophy.

But Deryk Engelland was also very humble in that knowing he was the visitor, he didn't add insult to injury by parading around the ice and instead, quickly headed to the locker room. And notice that all of the Jets fans stayed around for the trophy presentation and as soon as Engelland touched the trophy, the audience immediately applauded as a sign of respect and congratulations.
