Boeser named Rookie of the Month. Looks like the Canucks have finally found a sniper
It would be good if Brock Boeser becomes only the second ;canucks: to win the Calder Memorial Trophy after Pavel Bure in 1992.

Having looked at a lot of goals by Brock Boeser, I will say that he reminds me of ...

Mike Bossy. Same size. Not a spectacular skater, but good enough. Nose for the puck. Great wrist shot. Finds the holes in coverage. Very, very nifty with the puck.

Not saying ... aside from he reminds me of Bossy.

The Canucks have had some great goal scorers. Bure. Mogilny. Tanti. Possibly, now Boeser.

Who would have thought that the top Canadian team at the moment is the Winnipeg Jets ? They're currently the 2nd highest team in the league trailing the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Big loss for the Canucks as they lost Bo Horvat for 6 weeks with a fractured ankle.

so I saw on the news the comments about the Vancouver Logo being too bland. I thought it reminded me of the Canucks uniforms which I also think are way too bland. I say, bring back some version of the black and yellow.

While the Canucks appear to be finishing in another abysmal season, there's a small bright spot in terms of an individual award that has finally be given to a current ;canucks: player.

Since they entered the NHL in 1970, no Canuck won an individual NHL award until 1992 when Pavel Bure won the Calder trophy as Rookie of the Year while Pat Quinn also won the Jack Adams trophy as coach of the year. And it wasn't until 2010 when a Canuck won the Art Ross or Hart trophies until Henrik Sedin won both of them.

While at least one Canuck representative played in the annual NHL all-star game in the various seasons when it was held, no Canuck won the NHL all-star game MVP even though in at least two cases the Canuck deservedly should have. In 1983, goaltender John Garrett played well for the Conference 9-3 win over the Wales, the fact that Gretzky scored four goals in the third period changed the MVP award selection to Gretzky instead of Garrett. And then in 2002, Markus Naslund was tied in the scoring lead with 2 goals and 1 assist in the World Team's 8-5 win over North America team led by Eric Daze who had the same stats. But the MVP award was given to Daze who was given a crystal trophy and a new truck, even though the tiebreaker should have given the award to Naslund given the fact that he played in the winning team and scored the game winning goal late in the third period.

But early MVP voting screwed Naslund. Talk about a huge injustice. :bang:

Finally....in 2018 a Canuck has won the NHL all-star game MVP as a lone ;canucks: member of Team Pacific with BROCK BOESER capturing the award. In the first game, Boeser scored 1 goal in the Pacific 5-2 win over Central. Then in the 5-2 Pacific win over Atlantic, Boeser scored 1 goal and 1 assists, for a total of 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points. That tied him with several teammates:

1) Johnny Gaudreau and Brent Burns scored 1 goal and 2 assists each, but I goals mean more than assists when it comes to tiebreakers.
2) Rickard Rakell scroed 2 goals and 1 assist in the second game, but didn't score any points in the first game. So I guess diversity and consistency is more important.
3) However......Drew Doughty had the same amount of points with 1G-1A in game 1, and 1G-0A in game 2 for an identical 2G-1A=3 Points....and Doughty is a defenseman and is was ahead in 1 in +/-.

Before the organizers change their mind.....congratulations to Brock Boeser for being the first Canuck to win the NHL all-star game MVP, and the first rookie to win such an award since Mario Lemieux in 1985. :beauty:

For being All-Star MVP, Brock Boeser gets a $212,500 entry-level bonus. That’s in addition to $100,000 for being part of the winning team and $25,000 for winning the shooting accuracy. n total, Boeser scored $337,500 in additional money to his paycheck for the outstanding performance. Boeser also activated the clauses in his contract for hitting the 20-goal mark and being named to the NHL All-Star Game, for a final total of $637,500 extra cash to his bank account this year. In addition, he also won a a complimentary car from the league. What a weekend for him!

May he win the Calder trophy!

Wow.

As mentioned earlier this year, the guy he reminds me of is Mike Bossy. Deadly shooter. Gets in to open space. Snaps the shot very quickly. Good skater although not quite a burner. Excellent balance. Protects the puck. Very good passer. Nose for the net.

Excellent draft choice.

Helluva weekend. Way to go, Brock.

I liked after Boeser competed in shooting accuracy it took them a few minutes to fix the LED array he broke on one of his shots, and Crosby was congratulating him on being the time to beat in the event.

He will be giving the car he won as MVP to his sister.

Excellent 6-1 win by the Canucks over the Boston Bruins. :beauty:

Are you ready for an NHL team in Seattle? Seattle said they reached their 10,000 ticket goal in 12 minutes. Some 45 minutes later, the tally had reached 25,000 and was still counting.

as long as it does not have a negative effect on the Canucks.

Just when you thought that Brock Boeser might win the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year, he might be out for the rest of the season because of an injury on Monday night. :bang:
