With the very embarrassing and inexcusable home loss by the :bc: then maybe it's time to think about something else now.

On no.
Lions have been handing out wins to opponents with all those turnovers. :bang:
That bad omen must have been contagious as the Canucks may have obtained that curse as the first goal of the season was simply handed to the opponent with an own goal :puck: from a delayed penalty empty net. :puke:

Laughing my you know what off. That is so Canuck like. First goal of the season and it is against ourselves! Must have been channeling Lars Lingren. I think that I may be a curse on professional teams.

Yesterday, I turned on the Jays game just in time to see Cleveland score their two runs.
Last night, it was the Lions who imploded under my kindly gaze.
Today, I watched exactly 1 min of the Canucks - just in time to see Eriksen score on his own team on a delayed PP.

Maybe I should stop watching sports. It is becoming very hard to not think I'm a jinx

Whew! Canucks managed to redeem themselves (this time) from their unforgivable mistake by scoring late in regulation to tie and win in a shootout. Better smarten up on Sunday night if they want to start off the season 2-0. :hmm:

2-0 to start off the season with a pair of come from behind OT wins.
But they cannot afford to give up the lead so often.

Unbelievable - a huge comeback on both sides of the Georgia Viaduct.

It appeared it would be a horrible, quadruple loss this weekend for the city of Vancouver with the UBC Thunderbirds failing to defend their Vanier Cup season with a close playoff loss in Calgary, and the Giants lost at home as well. With deficits of 3-1 and then 4-3 late in the third period the Canucks managed to fight back to tie and win in overtime. It looks like the comeback win caused a miracle on both stadiums. :rotf:

Joining Roger Neilson is now a statue of Pat Quinn outside Rogers Arena.

Will there ever be a statue of a former BC Lion outside BC Place?

I doubt it. Publicly owned BC Place vs. privately owned Rogers Place ..... besides, it should have been called Terry Fox Stadium.... but that's an old argument by an oldster....

General Manager Jim Benning has been busy the past few days. Yesterday he traded fan favourite Alex Burrows to Ottawa. Tonight he shipped Hansen to San Jose for a 4th round pick. If San Jose wins the Stanley Cup the pick becomes a first rounder.

Capping off a season of futility (as well as Biblical style plagues--the mumps outbreak proved to be the end of their slim playoff chances).

The Canucks finished 29th--can't complain about that--if you're going to crash out, might as well give yourself the best draft lottery odds you can get. With the LV franchise getting the 3rd spot automatically, they did well to freefall down to the 2nd spot. Of course as we saw last season, there's no guarantee where they will end up on April 29th.

Then they fired coach Willie Desjardins this morning. I can't say I disagree with this--I think he's a very good AHL coach, but not NHL level.

Pittsburgh wins game 1 of the Stanley Cup final 5-3 despite mustering a meagre 12 shots on goal.

3 quick goals in a 4 minute span in the 3rd period gives Pittsburgh a 4-1 victory and a 2-0 lead series lead.
