In another posting, I mentioned that not too long ago that the Carolina Hurricanes wore the exact uniforms of the former Hartford Whalers for one game as a homage to their ancestry.

That said, it would be nice for the Washington Nationals to show their respect and homage to their ancestry by wearing the actual uniforms of the Montreal Expos (again) for one home game. They actually did so in early July 2019 for their 50th anniversary and O Canada was sung.

But in light of winning the World Series, they should do at least one more time to show their respect again.

Or how about arranging with the MLB and the city of Montreal to hold one game in Montreal for the 2020 season?

Congratulations to local man Larry Walker in being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I wonder though if he will insist on wearing the hat for the Expos, Rockies, or Cardinals.

I remember very well a mental mistake he made on the field one time:

I'm not surprised Toronto has been disallowed by the Federal Govt (after GTA and Ontario govts allowed them to play home games). Like most news about the 60 game MLB season--what a mess. Their immediate options (home opener July 29th) are Sahlen Field, the Jays Triple-A affiliate stadium in Buffalo or back to TD Ballpark in Dunedin.

Not a total surprise. What is surprising is that it was chosen as one of two hub cities for the NHL playoffs.

Not surprising to me they choose Toronto. With Vancouver not going along with it, they had no choice if they wanted it in Canada. Which answers the question someone down there raised about why would anybody want to go to Canada. Why wouldn't they want to go where we are way more responsible re covid.

There was an announcement overnight that the Jays would be sharing the Pirates stadium in Pittsburgh, but that is premature, according to this:

The whole idea of blithely assuming they would be okay to have multiple MLB teams (including them) crossing the border with no quarantine was ridiculous. The Jays were allowed to spend their mini-camp there at Rogers Centre after a bit of wrangling (and the same border crossing rules that the NHL will be using).

...and it's official . No Jays "home" in Pennsylvania

Turns out the Jays will call Sahlen Field, their Triple-A affiliate stadium in Buffalo, home for the shortened game season. They've got a lot of work to do to bring it up to MLB standard and it wont be ready in time for their home opener July 29th. So they will be vagabonds for up to 2 weeks, crashing at a few other parks (seems they are getting a cool reception just about everywhere).

Shi Davidi wrote an excellent article for Sportsnet today about how MLB got themselves into the potentially disastrous situation this morning. Marlins players knew they tested positive for COVID-19 but didn't tell anyone before they played the Phillies.

The only thing that might help the NFL from going down the same path is the one week gap between games. They need to learn from MLB's mistakes.

For some reason the link won't post but the title of the article is "MLB must adapt to save season as COVID-19 cases keep rising".
