Re: Preseason game June 19 at Thunderbird Stadium

I go to the odd UBC football game (plan on going to many more this year) and always enjoy myself. Sure, it's a bare bones stadium with hard bench seating etc., but it's also a beautiful setting. I am looking forward to tomorrow night and have friends coming to the game. It seems the Lions' brass ne...

And hope that Chris Jones doesn't send headhunters to end Travis' season before it even begins.

Re: CFL Training Camp

Interesting article ahead of the Als-Argos preseason game tomorrow (televised on TSN). Crompton may be about to fade back into obscurity again, if he has another bad outing like the OTT game. LeFevour will be making his first appearance; as expected, his recovery from knee ligament surgery has been ...

Re: CFL Training Camp

McPherson and Milanovich have a history together with the Als from 2008-11. His last CFL play was in 2012. It was ironic that he left just before Calvillo retired. He bounced around the Arena Football League and was signed (but never suited up) with the Stamps in January 2014 I don't think he will b...

Re: CFL Training Camp

So exactly who would that veteran CFL QB be that Milanovich and Barker expect to sign soon? Partridge The article with that quote is from June 8th. With Ray being placed on the 6-game today, maybe they think they can survive with Harris and Gale until Ray returns. To me, Harris is their best option...

Re: women world cup effect lions ticket salea

$40 (+fees) tickets are gone. Lowest price available is $45 (+10 fees) in the end zone corners if you buy multiples of 4. That same ticket bought as a single costs $60 (+13.50 fees).

Re: women world cup effect lions ticket salea

It is mostly a different market than CFL fans that would be likely to attend the WWC. (Except for the very casual CFL follower). This Sunday's match with Canada playing at BC Place has current ticket availability ranging from $75-108 range. The final on Sunday July 5th is already sold out (or close ...

Re: CFL Training Camp

TORONTO – There was a little extra zip to the footballs being thrown by Ricky Ray at practice on Thursday. Despite being freshly activated off of the injured list, the Argos star quarterback is not close to returning. Still recovering from off-season shoulder surgery, Ray has slowly been increasing...

Chicago Wins Stanley Cup FInal series 4-2

Chicago 2 Tampa Bay 0. Chicago wins Stanley Cup final 4-2. It was the first time since 1938 (over TOR) they celebrated their win on home ice. !961 was clinched at DET, 2010 at PHA, and 2013 at BOS. Their only other (and first) victory was in 1934 at home vs DET. This year it came down which team in ...

Re: Preseason game June 19 at Thunderbird Stadium

I truly believe part of the reason why the Lions' brass were so eager to pound this square peg (displaced home game) into a round hole (the massively under-appointed Thunderbird Stadium) is their desire to tap into Generation Y. I think they see the potential to get UBC kids exposed to their game (...

Re: Official Kamloops Training Camp 2015 Thread

A word of caution for Friday. The Eskimos come at you and they hit to hurt. Their defensive line shows relentless pressure and, preseason be damned, Jones sends guys from all over to get to the quarterback. Not the ideal game in which to start Travis Lulay. DH  Glen Suitor on Friday's broadca...

Re: Official Kamloops Training Camp 2015 Thread

Travis Partridge last week said he was oblivious to the pending need to perform in the pre-season opener for the B.C. Lions, but when he didn’t come through it was obvious what would come next. The second-year quarterback was released Sunday, one of two veterans and eight players overall cut in ord...

I thought it was a little hasty for them to be putting his Al's jersey on sale (the day he was signed).

Utica Comets lose game 5 and Calder Cup final series

Manchester 2 Utica 1. Manchester wins Calder Cup Final series 4-1. The injury to starting goaltender Jean-Francois Berube early in game 3 turned out to be no obstacle for the Manchester Monarchs eventual first-ever Calder Cup triumph. Backup Patrik Bartosak won games 4 and 5, stopping 31 of 32 shots...
