Re: CFL Games of Week 1 -- June 25-27
Interesting article--Mitchell wears a knee brace all the time to help prevent injuries like Reilly sustained. http://m.ottawasun.com/2015/06/29/cfls-west-division-altered-bigtime-by-injuries-to-qbs [One snap of an Achilles tendon and one caved-in knee, and the complexion of the CFL’s West Division c...

Re: CFL Games of Week 1 -- June 25-27
^^I agree. The hit that took Reilly out of the game didn't look like intent to injure, but EDM was vocal in their complaining because of this Sept 28, 2013 history that Laing has with Reilly. (That time it was a helmet to helmet hit. He was subsequently fined.) http://www.edmontonsun.com/2013/10/01/...

Re: CFL Games of Week 1 -- June 25-27
Esks fans are complaining that the Argos Lang (sp?) took a low shot at Reilly and should have been flagged. I could have sworn they did get flagged and tagged for a 15 yd penalty. Yes, it was a "Major foul, roughing the passer, low hit 15 yard penalty" for Laing. The complaint was that he...

Re: CFL Games of Week 1 -- June 25-27
But yes, the Eskies didn't seem to have any fire in their gut or play with anything resembling urgency. I would have bet that any team coached by Chris Jones would at least bring intensity and aggressiveness onto the field. With an intense guy like Chris Jones there is always the chance of player b...

Re: CFL Games of Week 1 -- June 25-27
Rough opening weekend for quarterbacks. Mike Reilly injured his left leg. Reilly had been receiving treatment on the sidelines in the 2nd quarter (I thought I heard the commentary say he was being fitted with a knee brace.) Then he was obviously the worse for wear after a sack in the 3rd quarter. T...

Re: CFL Games of Week 1 -- June 25-27
Dave Stala was doing all the kicking duties for Toronto also, wonder if Mcallum likes the colour blue? Waters sustained what is described as a quadricep injury late in the first half. It's funny he was also injured (but it was groin that time) in the season opener in 2013. http://www.thestar.com/sp...

Re: Preseason game June 19 at Thunderbird Stadium
Starting to find out more of the CFL in Fort Mac story. The Argos are there this weekend thanks in part to Fort Mac civic leaders offering revenue guarantees and covering all the Argo's expenses for the game. I assume the Eskimos as the visiting team would be on their own hook given they'd have to ...

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=772554 Canuck backup goalie Eddie Lack ended up going to Carolina for the 66th pick this year, and the Hurricanes 2016 7th rounder. Re: 2015 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions
^^Yes that is good (and ironic) news that CFL has more of a following with younger fans in the US than here. Makes sense about the desire to follow players' careers post-college. I just heard a radio ad on 1040 that mentioned something is coming July 5th. At first it talked about social activities, ...

Re: RedBlacks and Ernest Jackson
^^ This. The first half was the "Bad Henry" Burris we saw most of last season. Then the "Good Henry" appeared in the second half. A stupid undisciplined MTL "I'm eating you up" taunting penalty kept the winning drive going in the 4th quarter. The hit that took out LeFev...

Re: 2015 standings prediction
East: Hamilton Montreal Toronto Ottawa West: Calgary Edmonton Saskatchewan BC Winnipeg Pretty much the same standings as 2014, and a good chance of the Lions being a crossover again. BC will only go as far as Travis is able to play. I think the long grind of the season will impact on him, unless the...

Re: Eskimos and Lions Game Day Thread
this stream on tsngo is pretty good Yes, I had it run by HDMI cable from my laptop to my 55" TV and was very impressed by the quality. I watched some of the Riders game earlier and it had obviously better production values, with an actual TV crew. The BC game with the 1040 radio feed was unint...

Re: Preseason game June 19 at Thunderbird Stadium
The announced crowd of only 6,117 probably helped make it a pleasant experience. (So much for all the talk of pushing for 10,000.)
Watching it on TSN GO, it looked like spectators had plenty of room to move around and get a good view.

Re: Lulay ready to resume role as the starter
^This. Add to that the Lions likely won't even have their full eventual starting lineup on the field, I'd be concerned that he's being put out there with a needless risk of failure. At least next week, the final cuts have been made and it's an all-around better situation--Travis should be able to co...

Re: Tim Brown signs with Calgary
According to this, a vacancy for Brown was created as a result of Jock Sanders actions during Friday's game getting himself cut. http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/06/15/stamps-announce-first-round-of-cuts The dominoes are beginning to fall. When the day began, the Calgary Stampeders, needing to get dow...
