Re: Lions' receivers
I have yet to come across any information on the contracts for Hollins, Cottoy or Hatcher beyond the lengths of the contracts. One thing I've learned in the past two years is that the rumoured salaries usually turn out to be exaggerated once things are clarified with the salary disclosure reports th...

Re: Lions' receivers
I think the reality of the salary cap with 6 receivers on a roster, at least one and maybe two of the 6 need to be on their 1st contract at a low price minimum $$. In other words Rhymes and Lucky were deemed too expensive. The SMS is really a 46 piece jig saw puzzle with some extra pieces aka the P...

Re: Lions' receivers
Cottoy was already at 807 last year and McInnis at 690. I fully expect both to improve on those numbers primarily because they will be in more prominent roles. They ranked 4th and 5th in targets just ahead of Rhymes who missed 8 games. Also I think the gloves might be off for Cottoy as they start us...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Would it also be naive to think BC Lions will figure out schemes to run more successfully more often? Hmmm. Not sure. The jury is out on that one as I've seen coaches who have the plays but simply don't call them as their QB wants to pass only. One thing about Vernon Adams is how time and again he ...

Heard that rumour yesterday. That would certainly do it.SammyGreene wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 5:42 pmSo this confirms it’s Rourke and Zappe battling out for #3?
Via Ian Rapoport:

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot
The way I look at it, with Mac Jones gone that's one less QB that Rourke has ahead of him on the depth chart. For sure the Pats draft a QB but not for sure they sign a veteran QB. So perhaps 1st round drafted QB starts and Zappe and Rourke battle it out for backup QB. It's not a matter of IF NE dra...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
It'd be naive in the extreme to think that the Bombers bringing back Chris Streveler are relegating him to just short yardage and aren't thinking creatively on how to use his talents. I think the Bombers offense with Buck Pierce at the helm has taken their playbook every year since Lapo and added o...

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot
have to wait to see who NE brings in as a veteran backup. I think Zappe also is in a bit of a tight spot, not necessarily performance-wise but perhaps in terms of asset management. He may need to beat out the incoming vet to secure a spot.. One thing we do know is NFL teams don't like to carry 3 QBs...

Re: Lions' receivers
3000 yards between Hollins, Cottoy, and McInnis would be huge which still leaves 1800 for the others to get V.A. to 4800 yds which is about where I have him slotted in. Still plenty of time and there will be training camp cuts but I think they add one more receiver of note. As is losing Hollins to ...

Re: Rourke now a NE Patriot
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, New England is re-signing Rourke before he becomes a free agent. Yes, B.C. Fan, I just read that (link below). Unlike when he went to the Jaguars who had a high-quality starting quarterback, he will now be with a team with two mediocre QBs--Mac Jones ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Appreciate the update on Mills. I forgot about 2022 and was fixated on the recruitment and development by the Stamps. Proof will be in the pudding but not often you see a team replace a top running back like Carey through their system with a player like Mills. No disrespect to Peyton Logan. Those a...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
-Leonard, Baron, Sewell, Davis — you could put together a pretty formidable DL with the remaining FAs albeit all 4 are on the other side of 30. Baron is the youngest turning 31 in August. Stick Simoni Lawrence and Larry Dean behind them and you have a good start on an expansion team. Might patch an...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Seeing Calgary continue to bring in big bodies suggests the rebuild continues and we'll see a different team in 2024. Not really anything new with the exception of more spots open this year particularly on the O line and wondering about Hugh Thornton and Jamaal Campbell who appear to have not been ...

Re: Touchdown Pacific in Victoria 2024
Curious how they are including the Grey Cup option and if they are asking for money now for that. I would love to see home town season ticket holders get a deal on their seats. I bought my Grey Cup tickets last November when I renewed my season tickets and switched seats for 2024. They're paid for....
