Lions expect to land Tyler Ebell
According to Mike Beamish, Wally said Saturday he expects to have Tyler Ebell at practice Monday for depth at running back and returner. He also said Martell Mallett acquitted himself well in his first pro game and Ian Smart's groin injury doesn't look too serious. Wally said his meeting with free-a...

Re: Official Game Day Thread: Lions at Regina
One season-opening loss doesn't bother me, especially when the reasons for the loss are clear and easy to correct through better preparation and game expeience. As I recall, the 2006 Lions started the season 2-3 and the 2000 Lions started 5-9. Both seasons ended in Grey Cup victories. Over the years...

Re: O-Line issues
It was obvious the Lions considered the right side of the O-line their strength in this game, no matter where they were on the field or how the defence was lined up. I think roughly 8 of the 10 carries by the running backs went to the right side behind Jimenez and Haji-Rasouli. Those carries were al...

Re: Post Game Thoughts
Buck was also in the game against Edmonton a season or two back that he was sacked like 9 times, you have to begin to wonder if he isn't holding onto the ball a little too long, given the two circumstances. You have to get rid of the ball quickly when they're bringing more people than you can block...

Re: Post Game Thoughts
Some positives? * How about the play of Glatt, Hunt, Banks, Phillips on D. Anton McKenzie was quite good considering it was his first game with B.C. It's easy to criticize Darren Toney because of his shaky punt returns, but that's not what I care about as he's not our first string punt return man. ...

Re: O-Line issues
There were problems on the O-line with all five starters being beaten cleanly, but mostly this was poor preparation. The Lions looked like they had no clue how to handle the Riders' blitzes. Admittedly, they'd never seen them before, but they also didn't adjust to what they were seeing at the line o...

Re: Predictions, Expectations for the Lions this Season
One of us is out of the running with an 18-0 prediction but the rest of us are still alive. All games this week have been mistake-filled. It really takes more than two games to get sharp.

Re: Lions position chart
The "injuries" to Sean Whyte and Zac Champion have allowed Rufus Skillern and Bobby Singh to be activated to the 46-man roster. The Lions also have extra room on the practice roster if needed.

Re: Season opener on Canada Day - a good idea?
I don't know where all the venom comes from when it comes to the NHL having Free Agency start on July 1. 80% of the teams operate in the US where it's just another day. NHL Free Agency has been on July 1 since they had free agency. It signifies the expiration of contracts as per the CBA just as Feb...

What the heck. Rammer has thrown some numbers out there. I'll do the same: 14-4. See reasons in thread above.ziggy wrote:Lion Guy wrote:The Lions will be alot better than most people think. they will battle Calgary all year for 1st.

Re: Clermonts corner
If they were really as classy as some suggest wouldn't the Lions have honoured their contract with Clermont? There are far too many CFL contracts these days signed by teams including the Lions that appear like they have no intention of honouring when the season is done and the bonuses are triggered...

Re: Predictions, Expectations for the Lions this Season
With 8 rookie starters, the Lions could lose 8 games this year. :roar: You can count the new starters several ways. Lowell Ullrich counts 4 rookie starters: Toney, Mallett, Gibbs and Arceneaux. Province article I would argue that Toney is the only true rookie starter in the bunch. Gibbs was on the ...

Re: Predictions, Expectations for the Lions this Season
I'm extremely optimistic about this season. The talent on this team is far better than in the past at most positions and the attitude is also night-and-day better. The team is hungry and focused and could have a breakout season. I'm loathe to predict final standings because, as we saw last year, a f...
