Wally's thoughts on being 1-3
The Lions last started the season 1-3 in 2004, and were also coming off an 11-7 season. No one knew then that they would go on to finish in first place for the first time in Wally's tenure and play for the Grey Cup. I thought it might be enlightening to read some of Wally's quotes in various news st...

Re: Start Lulay Lulay
One of the callers on the postgame show said Pierce was vomiting in the garbage can at the bench during the game. I don't know if anyone here can verify it, but that could help account for his off night. Overall, Calgary just shut down the B.C. passing game, making both quarerbacks look bad. Calgary...

True. The first-half stats were equally poor for both offences. By the end of the game Calgary's offence had been on the field for 15 minutes more than B.C.'s offence.Rammer wrote:To be fair, the majority of the running yards were given up after the game was in hand and the D had been over extended.

Re: Post Game thoughts & Game Balls
Football is a simple game. The key is to play hard and don't turn the ball over. Calgary played hard, winning the battle of intensity on both sides of the ball, and didn't turn the ball over aside from a deliberate turnover on downs in the final minute. B.C. lost the battle in the trenches and commi...

We didn't need to take any more penalties.Rammer wrote:As for the title of the thread, I really think that we need the injection of Armour on our D, and really could have used him tonight given it was his old team.

I have to hope Trestin George is a better DB than a poet Hmmmm... the profile on George also referred to him featuring in a PBS documentary: http://www.docmakeronline.com/playingforkeeps.html A review of that refers to George coming from a low-income, single-parent household in one of the worst nei...

Re: Game Day Thread: Lions vs. Stamps Jul 24
Labinjo is quite out of shape right now. That should be a welcome relief. I had heard this also, but read yesterday where the Stamps see him getting double and triple teamed, so either that is false or Labinjo must be back in playing shape. Labinjo has been moved to defensive tackle this year, wher...

Re: Game Day Thread: Lions vs. Stamps Jul 24
It's vitally important for the Lions to re-establish their running game. Buck needs to work with 2nd and five or less to be effective so Martell needs to get back to his earlier performances and put the Edmonton game behind him (which I attribute to him not getting his footing on the Commonwealth g...

Esks fine two Lions for souvenir ball toss
We've talked before about the practice of tossing souvenir footballs into the stands after touchdowns and other big plays, and players such as Dante Marsh and Geroy Simon have said they've never been fined or made to pay for the souvenir balls. According to Mike Beamish, the Edmonton Eskimos have a ...

Re: Keys to Lions licking Stamps on Friday
I am in Calgary right now on business and was listening to their sports talk radio tonight. They reported that Nik Lewis has nerve damage and is 'possible' for Friday's game. He obviously wants to play but they may keep him out for fear of risking him longer term. If he can't go, they're really hig...

Re: McCallum gone 6-8 weeks
Passaglia was an excellent athlete who played quarterback in high school and wide receiver at SFU and in his rookie season with the Lions before becoming a fulltime kicker. In his younger days, he could stick his nose in and make a good tackle. As he got older, he was no match for speedy returners 2...

Re: Keys to Lions licking Stamps on Friday
I've always believed in challenging Browner deep. He thrives on jamming receivers at the line in the bump and run. B.C. threw deep last year. I expect the Lions to go after him again.

Re: tring to find a players name
Don McLellan played one game as a Lion in 1976. Sam Britts wore #45 from 1978-81.
The only player I know from that era who went on to coach the Lions is Jim Young, who wore #30 from 1967-79.
