Re: Leos Name New Club President

Nice work on the interview Matt. The one interesting thing I read in that is what should amount to a shot across the bow at the Wally detractors. He's been accused of wanting to maintain a death grip on control of everything. Yet who was the person who initiated the hiring of a new GM? Wally. Who w...

Re: Leos Name New Club President

Spoke with Rick yesterday afternoon and have published a Q&A with him for bclions.com, link at the bottom. Cole's Notes: - It all happened fast. Says he was talking to Wally about the Hervey hiring a couple weeks ago and jokingly mentioned to Wally he'd be interested in being the president. It w...

Re: Playoff predictions FWIW

I'll go Edmonton over Toronto in the Grey Cup. Every year people get high on the crossover team, but I think Saskatchewan is a year away from being a serious contender. Could see them getting past Ottawa, but I like the makeup of the Argos these days. In the West, even a healthy Bombers team doesn't...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

Not to burst your bubble, but I recall the news coming out the night before that Dickenson was starting. Then I guess the news didn't make it to the Spirit of Edmonton. Damned Communications Department falling down on the job again. LOL no doubt! haha.. I recall seeing it on the Headline Spo...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

Under the norms of succession planning one would think if Buono stepped aside then it would almost be a no-brainer to promote McEvoy to GM with Simon moving up into McEvoy's role. If whomever is making that decision chose to overlook McEvoy then it would be best for him to leave be it voluntarily o...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

Also, what exactly happened in 2005? as MikeAK said, that's when they started to jack up prices across the board. with ackles at the helm. IMO they got too greedy too quickly. 50k+ paid $45 each, flat rate for every seat every section, for the heavily hyped 2004 caseymania nhl lockout playoff game,...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

Braley was also accused of "dithering" the Argos sale to supposedly extract the maximum sale price, but he said after the deal concluded that Rogers was very tough to deal with, which held up negotiations. Rogers evicted the Argos from Skydome on the premise they were planting grass (a ri...

Re: Leos vs. Stamps

While the Lions have an all star calibre receiving corps, unless one of the worst O lines in the CFL play above their heads, it will be another loss and last place for BC. While I am glad to see them bench one of their substandard INT tackles, the Lions still have their best tackle playing guard an...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

It was awesome to meet a couple of you on operation orange and sorry for not being able to put names to faces on here! This is my second season traveling to every road game with the team and I think TD Place is the coolest vibe. A lot of it has to do with how revitalized the Landsdowne area has beco...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Lions

this rogers radio thing is starting to look more and more like part of a purrfect storm that, along with many other issues currently in the bigger picture could help conspire to paint the lions into the irrelevant corner. 650 has gone for young and diverse in their talent hires, and in that cbc art...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Lions

Whether you guys like it or not, Canucks talk is what gets the metre moving in this town. Losing the rights doesn't change that. If anything they will now be able to control the conversation even MORE with the leeway to be more critical, etc. I wish it were different and I understand the frustration...

Re: Lions ownership discussion thread

As per the comments on how much respect our league gets south of the border: I have really noticed it first hand with the two US free agent camps the club has sent us to cover, most recently in Dallas this past April. Along with the talent on display, the stadium was full with curious onlookers, a ...
