Re: Grey Cup, Game Day Thread

I think where the CFL and Grey Cup has it over the NFL and the Super Bowl is the half-time entertainment. Simply for the reason they keep it relatively straight-forward and avoid the huge excess that is all too common with the Super Bowl. The band or performer goes on stage and performs and whether...

Re: CFL New Logo

The new logo looks like they made a logo, but then decided to crop 1/3 of the outside area (only using the centre). Cropping the ends of the ball could subtly indicate stripes vs no stripes on the NFL game ball. The retro font reminds me a bit of the original Ottawa Rough Riders primary logo (which ...

Re: Jeff Paterson let go from TSN1040

Paterson has good hockey knowledge, but I found the sound of his voice (and manner of speaking) to be kind of abrasive. A few years back Doug McLean (a regular 1040 guest at the time) half-joked that it was like talking to the "weather guy" . Another annoying sounding voice is Brook Ward, ...

Re: Harris Basically Says Good Bye

A sad day if this happens. No Andrew Harris is not the absolute ideal running back. I would love to see a back who hits the hole with more explosiveness and is a better blocker but this is a homegrown Canadian kid who is a ratio buster that admits "bleeds" orange. Part of the Lions demise...

Re: Sekers running a poll on 1040 to get Wally to step down.

We will get another year of the same old, same old with the team, it looks like. Hardly looking forward to it. I guess I will take a more global view, as a fan of the overall CFL. It is nice to watch Calgary play. I like Edmonton's intensity. Burris has had a sensational year. It sure didn't take D...

Reliable kicking gave HAM the edge. Waters had just returned from a second extended injury, and went 2/4 on FG. Medlock was 3/3 including a 55 yarder.

Re: New BC Lions Jersey for 2016

I think the gun metal grey uni's are the best alternate jersey in the CFL. Also really liked the retro jerseys they wore a few years ago at Empire Field. It's not a big concern for me if they continue to play in them or not... if I like the jersey I'm still happy to wear it... much more concerned t...

Re: CFL Regular Season

HAM was in a game with a lot on the line for them, but they didn't look like they were. (2-5 since losing Collaros and a 3 game losing streak to end the season shows no momentum). I'd say there's a good chance of OTT or even TOR (who swept OTT during the regular season) making it to the GC.

That sums up how much of an exhibition/evaluation contest this was.

I think Tedford got what he needed out of the game. Let's see if he can use it effectively when it counts.

Re: Whitecaps FC to host first ever home playoff match

It is a rare moment when two cities that have two or more professional teams happen to play each other on the exact same day - i.e. Lions vs. Stampeders and Canucks vs. Flames on the same day. But this will happen on Sunday, Nov. 1 as it will be (Seattle vs. Dallas) * 2 with first the Seahawks vs. ...

Re: Lions @ Argos -- Game Blog -- Post Game Comments

Do the Lions start Lulay Saturday to insure a healthy Jennings for the playoffs. I'm thinking Calgary starts Tate. BB Interesting, BB. I expect we start JJ. He needs pretty much all the experience he can get, IMO. Maybe two quarters plus. Then get Lulay in there. I'd rather see Fera getting a chanc...

Re: CFL Regular Season

OTT squeaking out a 12-6 win over HAM puts them in first place at least until the rematch next week. The loss by HAM eliminates TOR's chances of a home playoff game, since they lost the season series with HAM.

Re: How do the Lions get Fera on the roster?

Glad to hear Tedford is leaning towards trying Fera, who has more background in placekicking.

27 of 38 on convert attempts from a static 32 yd line. How does that success rate compare to the other CFL kickers?

Re: Lions @ Argos -- Game Blog -- Post Game Comments

Tedford could do himself a huge favour and bench Leone. This convert circus has gone on long enough and frankly makes the club look bad by doing nothing about it. Tedford needs to remember this is professional football not college where he keeps giving chance after chance to justify giving a kid a ...

Re: How do the Lions get Fera on the roster?

I've mentioned before that Leone's in-game preparation seems lacking. When the Lions are driving in opposition territory, kickers usually hit as many balls as they can into the net on the sidelines, polishing their form. Leone seldom does. When I've watched him he's usually standing on the sideline...
