Re: Lions vs. Elks July 29, 2023

Blitz emerges from his cave to once again rehash ancient grievances with Wally Buono! Who could have predicted? Frankly, Jones never struck me as a Wally type. Sure he was on the shortlist of candidates Wally provided, but not sure that he would’ve been Wally’s first choice. But who knows. Jones doe...

If I were the Elks, I would have turfed McAdoo and Jarious and hired Paul LaPolice as OC and QB coach.

I don't think much of Lapo as a head coach, but he is a very skilled OC.

DH
No doubt Lapp would be an upgrade but doubtful that he would take the job in the current circumstances.

Re: Lions vs. Elks July 29, 2023

Although many might disagree with me (which is fine) The facts show that all teams have an above average defensive line and a below average offensive line. Just watch some of these Canadian offensive lineman getting beat over and over. I don't disagree but just see this as part of the risk analysis...

Re: Lions vs. Elks July 29, 2023

This Lions defence is the most dominant I can recall in my time as a Lions fan. Betts may be the best DL in the league right now. The secondary is lights out. They read every play, make every tackle. Obviously excellent coaching and top level talent at every position. I like both Adams and Evans at ...

Sick of players praising and giving credit to the Lord when they win. Who do they blame when they get beaten or miss the critical tackle ??
Satan obviously.

Looked like PI on that long throw to Rhymes. Did we use our challenges??

Re: Season opener - BC @ Calgary

For us fans it comes across like Sheldon Cooper put it together. I think it offers flexibility and options for a coach that for the most part will be subtle in impact. Taking Rhymes for example I think it means they could play him as a NAT in place of Cottoy or McInnes and bring Williams in to back...

Re: Season opener - BC @ Calgary

When I first heard about this new rule, I just shook my head. But I haven't heard coaches or players complain, so maybe it is not so bad after all. For my part, I am just going to ignore it. It is too convoluted for most fans to bother with.

Re: Training camp 2023

On the radio post game, Rick Campbell said that they deliberately ran out the clock in the last 3 minutes due to concern about weather delays. Edit: I see David mentioned this already. The CFL stream was not great. It is nice for the diehards like us but I’m not sure that putting that level of produ...

Re: New Uni's for 2023? (update)

Not a fan of the "fog grey" concept. I know it rains here a lot. And water is important for life. But for a sports team, it is kind of uninspiring.

Re: Who will be moving on?

A few interesting stats about Evans. From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_Football_League_records_(individual)#Passing Most consecutive pass completions one game - 19 (tie 5th all time) Pass completion % career - 68.5% (3rd all time, Fajardo is 2nd!?) Pass completion % one season - ...

Re: Who will be moving on?

I think we saw last year the type of offense Maksymic likes to run. Lots of short gain plays requiring quick reads and accurate throws. To me, that's more Evans' game than Adams. Adams is a risk taker and improviser. I bet Maksymic wanted this trade to happen. Evans blew it as a starter last year. N...

Re: Who will be moving on?

I will have to dig up my posts from a few months ago where I raised the possibility of the Lions acquiring Dane Evans. :roar: I like this move. I think Evans has the potential to be a good QB and he has something to prove. I would not be surprised if he takes over the starting job at some point duri...
