I watched one of the earlier virtual games and it seemed like BC was still using Jackson's offence even though the player names are updated. Predictable, with lots of short pass attempts for little yardage.
Aha! Now we know who stole Jarious' laptop!

Re: Simulated CFL Games

I pretty much dismissed them as whimsical GIGO exercises when some Rider fan posted about the first one which was Bombers @ Riders in the Riders 2nd pre-season game. It was declared that the Riders who originally followed that game with the Week 1 bye rested Fajardo giving him effectively 3 weeks of...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Playing into the concept Braley had for at least having a limited number of fans at games the Baltimore Ravens have announced effectively the same thing. They will be capping attendance at 14000, effectively 20% of capacity. Braley was talking more like 10% of capacity assuming being able to use bot...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Good article--Barnes must have had info leaked to him by someone on the CFLPA side. (Considering how locked down the league has been with details). I agree--it's more likely they will renegotiate a CBA only for the unique 2020 season (as requested by the CFLPA). The NHL had the huge carrot of Olymp...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Negotiations are ongoing. The league has set a July 23 deadline for adoption of health and safety protocols, assurance of acceptable federal funding, and the renegotiation of the CBA beyond its current expiration date of 2021. Here's an update from Dan Barnes of Postmedia: Time working against Cana...

Re: Claybrooks

Ultimately I wouldn't care if Claybrooks was wearing a Cherry-esque suit if the team was playing well. It wasn't. He showed many signs of a rookie head coach. There were times when decisive action was required such as in the bye week. He chose to do nothing and by the time he did, it was pretty muc...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I wouldn't mind if somebody shut Twitter down until a decision was rendered. Too many things being leaked by the "insiders" that turn out to be nothing more than unfounded spitball speculation. Fans get all worked up over things that turn out to be nothing.

Re: Claybrooks

I'm on the fence on that Sammy. Seems to me while some rookie HCs have enjoyed success when doubling as a coordinator there's also been a history of struggles for others. This will be the first time Campbell has held the dual role. Throughout his Ottawa tenure he always had a DC working under him; M...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Somebody on Esksfans posted a similar conversation between Lalji and somebody on TSN1260. An advantage for something like Hamilton-Burlington vs Winnipeg might be availability of multiple facilities for teams to conduct their normal practice and meeting routines during the week. Juggling games in on...

So I say "yes" to caution. "No" to fear-mongering.

Well stated David. Can't go running around totally in fear of CV19 but definitely have to treat it with the respect it's earned.

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Unless I'm missing something the whole concept of the hub city idea Belize is that the entire organization will be sequestered into the same "bubble" facility for both sleeping and eating. It pretty much defeats the purpose of the hub city concept if players can simply find any rental accommodations...

Re: If No Season will the CFL fold

I’m not sure about the national total but there are only 159 confirmed active cases in B.C. and the case count is comparable In most CFL cities in the West, as well as Hamilton and Ottawa. If stadiums are open to spectators with social distancing, I’ll be there. That's 159 active cases of which may...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Braley is right. Costs are much higher in a hub city model and there are no local revenues. The challenge is getting health authority approval, especially in B.C. Simple math says the hub city model is very costly, easily the most expensive model to return to action under. Braley's 8 game schedule ...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I thought it was the 2004 team that scrapped on bus. BB Maybe them too. I thought it was the 94 team that Barry Wilburn was part of. If anybody ran a team of players prone to fighting amongst themselves it would be Dave Ritchie. Team discipline and Dave Ritchie are two things that generally ...
