Re: Post David Braley era - what comes next?

For what it's worth, Francesco Aquilini says the Canucks still aren't interested in buying the Lions. https://twitter.com/fr_aquilini/status/1321581109809831936?s=20 "...at the moment" could be significant. With the current situation, who knows how long it will before there will be any attendance r...

Re: RIP David Braley

In the past, I have been critical of Mr. Braley's stubbornness in holding onto the club. Guilty as charged. But today is about celebrating his life and achievements, and his devotion to the Lions and CFL needs to be recognized. I am grateful that he has provided years of stability and am thinking o...

Dave Naylor on what he thinks is currently happening (or not happening) in league offices.

The Titans (and to a lesser extent, the Patriots) COVID situation continues, causing the possibility of more postponements and changes to the NFL schedule

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/cam-newton-heading-to-covid-19-reserve-list-patriots-chiefs-postponed-until-monday-or-tuesday/ Another postponement due to COVID positive tests. It's funny how MLB seems to have resolved their issues, as they are about to head into their neutral sites for the Divis...

Re: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks/NHL Season Thread

Dallas vs Tampa Bay Stanley Cup final begins Saturday, then games Monday, Wednesday, Friday, with a back-to-back Game 5 on Saturday. TBL are coming off a punishing series vs NYI, with several key parts out or obviously playing hurt. Maybe their depth will be enough to beat Khudobin, but well rested ...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

With the void of 4 missing CFL games a week, I already have started spending more time watching NFL. For decades I watched it only so I could be able to discuss it with my NFL fan friends--and that was just watching Seahawks and Patriots during the regular season. There are a lot of interesting stor...

Re: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks/NHL Season Thread

Dallas upset Vegas using Khudobin, their backup goalie, after starter Ben Bishop went back on the "unfit to play" list. Vegas coach DeBoer gave Thatcher Demko a compliment by saying he had got into their heads that they couldn't score and it carried over to the Dallas series. Dallas now waits for th...

Re: Speculation is over. No season in 2020.

That was a fun couple of months watching the Canucks run. This is where we should now be looking forward to a short CFL bubble season. Huge missed opportunity for the league. I get the no money to do it but how deep has Kerfoot/Mallett reached into their pockets to keep Whitecaps season still going...

Re: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks/NHL Season Thread

Agree completely. Had the Canucks advanced to the West Final, they would have set records for winning while being statistically outplayed. Too bad, because Dallas looks more vulnerable than Vegas. Even with the question of key players availability, Tampa Bay should get past NYI, and face VGK for the...

Re: Speculation is over. No season in 2020.

I didn't agree with signing Reilly in 2019 for what he was paid (maybe the 2015 version, with a few years less hard mileage on him though would have been worth it). I doubt Wally would have signed him for that price if he had still been in charge of BC in 2019.

Re: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks/NHL Season Thread

Berube's decision to start Binnington was a head-scratcher. I get that he wanted to show faith in him as the #1 goalie, but this was hardly the time to do that. It was great to see where the Canucks goal scoring came from: Beagle, Roussel, Stecher, 2 from Motte (bringing his series total up to 4) as...

Re: Speculation is over. No season in 2020.

This is either a failure of PR, a failure of leadership, or both. Either way, someone who is employed today should not be as a result. A league with a plan lays out to the public the costs and challenges of doing a reduced hub city season. They have a plan for this and an anticipated cost for that ...

Re: Greatest Hockey Game Ever

Agree Greatest Game would have to to be subjective, and depends entirely on how much importance the individual fan places on it. Personally I would vote Game 8 of Canada-USSR 1972. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNFfK7lnLbY I was 10 years old, but still remember watching it live on TV. I would plac...
